“By overestimating the importance of individual decision makers, the business school classroom avoids harder questions: Who made this person the legitimate protagonist? Whose knowledge is absent? Why are workers, regulators, communities, ecosystems or citizens rarely given equal standing?”

‘Much of what has happened in business schools turned out to be the leading edge of a broader transformation: the corporatization of the university itself.’

"In both the United States and Denmark, firms that appointed managers with business degrees cut wages and reduced labor’s share of income. Yet these companies didn’t become more productive, nor did they grow sales, investment or employment any faster."

I’ve worked at a business school, and was instructed to make up data for a case study. Honestly, it’s all worse than this prof says. But this is the way. Gift link

The elderly actually care about young people in France. The National protest was against government austerity & how the police treated the student protesters. Instead of cheering like they did in 🇺🇸when they crushed the student protesters under Biden, they’re genuinely upset about the treatment.

something that occurred to me is, everyone knows it’s possible to become a musician with work and practice. but you can’t work on and practice music while staring slackjawed at your phone. the real promise of generative AI is the ability to ‘make’ ‘art’ without reducing your slackjawed scroll time

“Make accessible” a thing humans have been doing for as long as there have been humans.

In a January 2025 appearance on The Twenty Minute VC, a venture-capital podcast, Suno CEO and co-founder Mikey Shulman said that his company’s mission is to make the joy of music-making accessible to billions of people. A clip from this interview went viral among musicians — not because they applauded his sentiments, but because it enraged them.
“It’s not really enjoyable to make music now,” Shulman said. When asked to elaborate, he said, “It takes a lot of time, it takes a lot of practice, you have to get really good at an instrument or really good at a piece of production software. I think the majority of people don’t enjoy the majority of the time they spend making music.” The implication appeared to be that Suno offers customers the experience of making music without any of the tedium or expense involved in doing it the old-fashioned way. What could be better than that?

Zelensky smiled when asked by Sky News whether Trump was trying to make him a “scapegoat” for problems including low ratings, high diesel prices and the war in the Middle East. Zelenskyy initially stayed silent, then said: “That is my answer.” #Ukraine

#ArtHistory 🗃️ 🐡 Weekend vibes... 2,000 years ago, a bronze masterpiece immortalized a young girl playfully chasing a partridge. Stolen from an archaeological site in southern Spain and recently recovered, the sculpture is now on display at Madrid's Museo Arqueológico Nacional. (my 📸)

The is one of two very similar sculptures depicting little girls chasing partridges. The works date to between the 1st century BC and the 2nd century AD. • Cast using the lost wax technique, both pieces stand out for their remarkable technical quality: the careful detailing of the hair and tunic which are full of movement, the eyes which still show traces of eye lashes made from thin metal sheets, and the bird's beautiful feathers. • It is highly unusual for ancient bronze sculptures to survive completely intact like this because bronze was a coveted metal. These pieces were looted from an archaeological site in southern Spain in 2007-08, illegally taken out of the country, and auctioned abroad in 2012. They were recovered by Spain's National Cultural Heritage Squad and returned to Spain on December 20, 2025. (My photo)

This is pathetic. Ukraine tested Starlink speed restrictions in Europe and had no issues - the restrictions only exist in Ukraine. The Trump administration is actively helping Russia kill Ukrainians - and risking the lives of US and NATO advisors in Ukraine.

Friendly neighborhood biologist here again. I’ve been seeing lots of post on how simple biological sex is. Since sex in society is such a hot-button issue these days, we should be able to find the basis of biological sex in law, right? Let’s do it! Let’s find the basis of sex, round 2! 🧵

Friendly neighborhood biologist here. I see a lot of people are talking about biological sexes right now. Lots of folks make biological sex seem really simple. Well, since it’s so simple, let’s find the biological roots, shall we? Let’s talk about sex...[a thread] (Reposted from the other site)

So it was Musk's idea after all. He pitched throttling Ukraine's drone defenses, Trump said yes, the Pentagon carried it out, and then Musk spent days blaming Trump for the chaos he personally proposed. Four sources. Drones got through while these two pointed at each other.

you can't be serious. This reads Meta/Facebook/Insta is looking to grant itself the rights to scrape websites across the open web - and train Meta's AI - if a company after Oct 30, 2026 uses Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or other Meta services. So every biz. Read that again. Outrageous. 1/5

There are so, so many verified diaries of white Union soldiers at the beginning of the war saying "I don't know about this, I condemn the deplorable violence" and then they get down there and see slavery with their own eyes and immediately go "John Brown was right we gotta kill these motherfuckers"

Erik Loomis@erikloomis.bsky.social · 4d ago

And we can certainly condemn his violence. But let’s step back and remember just how horrible slavery was. On December 20, 1858, Brown, who had briefly returned to Kansas, led a party into Missouri to free slaves.
