"PRESIDENT CURTIS" feels less like "RICK & MORTY" than it does like an early-2000s MTV project (laudatory) or an 'adult humor' cousin to "BILLY & MANDY" - straightforward "Saturday morning but Rated-M" comedy stuff. Notable and cool that a genre series centers an older Black male protagonist 👍
There was a time, early on in the days when generative AI was less widely known and more of an 'intriguing new prospect' that I would feel tempted. I didn't act on that temptation, and I am glad I dodged what would've been the worst mistake of my life. I'll gladly struggle for something real.
Yes. Easily. I don't use AI today. Or yesterday. Because I actually enjoy writing and researching stuff.
This is so disgusting. A new low for the organization. The HWA’s members deserve better. Indigenous horror writers deserve better.
So apparently that HWA pro-AI newsletter also uses Indigenous water rights issues as a prop, trivializing the activism by Indigenous peoples to protect our water including specific anti-data centre actions. I guess they figured why not alienate Indigenous horror writers while they’re at it?
A very good and crucial, per usual, essay from @jessiegender.bsky.social on what allyship for Trans people, and allyship in general, should actually entail. youtu.be/mKlCbefDIio?...

Replace AI with cigarettes, a drug of choice, alcohol and you suddenly realised these people are addicts and are in serious denial.

It's a real testament to Boots Riley's talents as a filmmaker that they are watchable despite his poorly thought-out politics.
So now the next step is to find out what Capital One's months-long anti-money laundering review by professionals with decades of law enforcement experience discovered about Trump's 300+ accounts...
Phang: "Capital One said, 'We don't want the business anymore of the 45th president of the United States, his businesses, his failed sons, and his revocable trust.' So you can imagine -- I am just hypothesizing... but it suggests whatever Capital One uncovered was pretty bad. Makes you wonder..."

I'm one of like three millennial comedians who has seen less than 5 episodes of The Simpsons
Destin Daniel Cretton says Kevin Feige wasn’t the one who canceled the ‘WONDER MAN’ show. “I know [Feige] loves that show as much as I do. It’s a bummer. I’m heartbroken about it. But I need to fully understand the why.” (via www.thewrap.com/creative-con...)
It’s crazy how Brand New Day manages to NOT feel like an overstuffed mess the way SM3/TASM2 do, despite those movies being stuffed with more “pure Spider-Man” characters and trappings. BND just laser focused everything so hard on Peter’s character that it all clicks cohesively.
This movie has A LOT. So many characters/plot points that would usually make this a jumbled mess that’d take the movie away from Spider-Man. But it doesn’t. (1/2)

Okay, I am going to tell a little story. It's one I have saved for the last couple years, almost nobody knows about it. But it lives in my heart. I don't know how others will feel about it, maybe something, maybe nothing. It's about the Uncanny X-Men. 1/
I'm not saying this means the 2010s "Every superhero movie hits, AQUAMAN makes a billion dollars!" Boom is back, but it *does* mean audiences are still thirsty specifically for a Peter Parker who can fight Daredevil's ninjas and bump into the Avengers or the X-men.
Also, having a real-life movie star couple headline your movie has been a time-honored Hollywood tradition for nearly a century. It doesn't always work, but Zendaya & Tom Holland have had a chokehold on their generation since their Lip-Sync Battle in 2017.
Pretty cool a fraudulent company can just claimed free to use Kevin MacLeod songs on YouTube, try to steal your revenue, and then force you to go through the dispute process for a song they don't own.
Oh no no no. Fuck this con. They WANT to host the most famous sex pest in the anime dubbing scene and only shunted him to a side event because vendors were cancelling when they tried to have him as a major guest.
The convention has now deleted the post they originally made when they cancelled him. They have set up a Facebook event page for the store signing, and while I do see angry comments, I'm also hearing the store has blocked people.
unseal your cards, unseal your comics, take things out of the fucking box. it's all just cardboard and plastic. fuck the resale market

I had a realization yesterday that The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a great allegory for Generative AI. Mickey pawns off work to an autonomous force only to have that force mindlessly use keep doing that very thing and destroy everything while using up plenty of perfectly good water in the process
Thankyou @fossildaddy.bsky.social for keeping it real on FB + socials and reminding us why #transrightsmatter and (most, if not all) #billioniaresareevil and #TERFsareNOTwelcome 🖕🏽 ... Because how you choose (or don't choose) to use your power, money and influence matters. 💯
