a thousand monster / dinosaur / megafauna movies since Jurassic Park have tried and failed to replicate its magic, but the thing Jurassic Park understood is that we aren’t just hooked by the Big Toothy Creature, we’re hooked by the moment a crotchety old grump rediscovers his sense of wonder

I remember the first time I saw "Jurassic Park" and how weird it felt when Neill's character got all emotional at real dinosaurs. Earlier he was threatening to slit a kid's throat with a raptor claw. He was the Main Guy Hero. Those don't show emotions! But he did, and it got me Thinking (C). RIP.

Played Overwatch with Eldest last night - their joy in us playing the game with them was infectious and I had so much fun. Much more fun than I was expecting. Freja's my fave so far. Then Shion. Then Vendetta. I reserve the right to change my mind. lol

(For the record, this auction includes a tea that I tried as part of a tea sampler last year and it was so good that it rearranged my brain chemistry, and I was going to put it in weekly tea immediately but then I had the brain wave to import a lot of it for Romancing the Vote.)

Also if you want to hear me rant about copyeditors who try to correct other Englishes when they are already correct (AAVE, Singlish, Southernisms, etc.) then bid and I will holler for a while! And then tell you how to advocate for yourself when some nonsense is afoot!

I donated a 1-hour copyedit ride along for @romancingthevote.com! Those who have already been on one with me know that it's an hour of laughing and joking, plus, you know, the serious stuff. www.32auctions.com/organization...

That's why I'm so excited about our @romancingthevote.com offer: we'll build you a curated reading list based on your preferences. We did this back in 2024, and it was so much fun emailing with our winners to get a sense of what they loved and trying to find them the perfect books.
