ICE has fatally shot 11 people since Donald Trump's second term began. These are not isolated incidents. They are the predictable result of a cruel, violent system. Abolish ICE.

In Minnesota, girls sell lemonade on the street to help their sisters arrested by ICE. Stephen Miller’s goons are very much still here. Sign reads, “Please help us raise money for my sisters because they were arrested by ICE” & this has been confirmed by trusted community members.

400 masked cowardly Patriot Front bros walking through D.C. once, then fleeing ain’t shit, peeps. They are a tiny fetid drop in the American bucket. Remember Minneapolis at -20F. We are bigger, braver, and stronger. By a mile.

It’s been a hard and yet triumphant year for Minnesota. Ordinary people have been targeted by their fellow countrymen, and made heroic sacrifices for their neighbors. So, appropriate to remember that 163 years ago today, 262 average Minnesotans sacrificed themselves at the Battle of Gettysburg.

here is what i think: we're not consumers or spectators, we are participants with agency. you should not hope that democrats will do anything. you must work to force them to do the right thing. the odds are long, but we are far from the first americans to face long odds. we will win.

you know, when someone says something like "these are the things that need to be done to avert disaster" and your response is "you think democrats will do that?!?" all you're telling me is that you think politics is a spectator sport

Joe is right. To take it a step further, how is it not a scandal that John Roberts won’t even let you — the public who pays him — *listen* to the release of opinions? The court is sitting. The public can go and watch! How are opinion announcements not livestreamed?

The profound part of Juneteenth for me is that before this was made a holiday, there was no official celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. When the 13th Amendment passed in December 1865, the legislators who witnessed its enshrinement imagined that the day would be remembered.

US Attorney Rosen asked repeatedly versions of questions about why these indictments — where there is no asserted injury — exist and/or came before any indictments relating to the killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti. He had no real answer beyond platitudes about ongoing investigations.

Billionaires and CEOs, from Wall Street to Silicon Valley, are warning America about the rise of anti-capitalism. But the system/administration they're profiting from right now isn't actually capitalism, in the first place. New episode with @stephruhle.bsky.social and @timmiller.bsky.social:

Louisiana House Republicans have passed a new 5-1 congressional gerrymander targeting 1 of 2 Black Dems. It packs Black voters from New Orleans to Baton Rouge in a snake-like 2nd District to make the other 5 heavily white/GOP. GOP senators already passed a similar map www.nola.com/news/politic...

Image of the Louisiana congressional map approved by state House Republicans. The map has six districts and targets one of the two seats held by black Democrats. Black Democratic voters are packed into a a 2nd District that snakes from New Orleans to Baton Rouge while the 6th District wraps around it on three sides in the latter region. The 6th would flip from majority Black and solidly Democratic to heavily white and overwhelmingly Republican.

CALIFORNIA: Less than 2 weeks to vote in the primaries. VOTE NITHYA RAMAN FOR MAYOR, please! (A) She's great and has a million ideas for how to fix the city (B) If you don't, a very dumb and bad man might win Pratt isn't even Trump 2.0. He's like a buggy Trump beta version. Don't let him run LA!

personally I think it's a very big deal that the Canada bureau chief for the @nytimes.com — certainly one of the highest-paid journalists in the country — asked an unspecified "AI tool" what Poilievre said & published its AI-hallucinated quotes in her reporting.

Editors’ Note: May 1, 2026
This article was updated after The Times learned that a remark attributed to Pierre Poilievre, the Conservative leader, was in fact an A.I.-generated summary of his views about Canadian politics that A.I. rendered as a quotation. The reporter should have checked the accuracy of what the A.I. tool returned. The article now accurately quotes from a speech delivered by Mr. Poilievre in April. He said, “My personal opinion is that when a member of Parliament goes back on the word they made to their constituents and switches parties, constituents should be able to petition to throw them out and have a byelection. That would put the people back in charge of our democracy rather than having dirty backroom Liberal deals by Mark Carney determine our destiny.” He did not refer to politicians who changed allegiances as turncoats in that speech.
