Ex BBC, occasional NBC hack. Kentish man in Northumberland, modernist, 45’s and 33’s, 144/282 munroist, cricket tragic.
I literally just WhatsApped the great man this query and hey presto. Australia has the wrong superstition.
Australia have now been bowled out for 111 in the fourth innings of a Test six times. It is the only total that they have been bowled out in the 4th innings more than 3 times.
STAT ALERT: The Newlands Test is the first ever to contain 10 ducks and 10 fifty-plus scores. A stat that tells some of the story of this gloriously fluctuating game. stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/st...

I went to Twitter HQ in San Francisco years ago & they had this in a framed triptych on the wall. ❤️
Kent has a new fleet of gritting lorries. One of them is called See It, Say It, Salt It.
Ćalciland this morning. That's the former goon squad camp in front of the National Assembly in Belgrade. Masked men in black arrived at 7.30pm last night - then legged it when Vučić conceded. The Student List supporters cleared out the camp. For the first time in 18 months, it's safe to walk here.
This week's MBRS (Late Show With Mickey Bradley) is tonight at 10.04pm on BBC Radio Ulster and includes Micko & The Mellotronics, Hello, Mooches, The Selecter, Judy Clay & William Bell, Life Without Buildings and a lot more. Listen on BBC Sounds and join the chat at: @mickeyundertone.bsky.social
Also, the stuff on Radio4 Extra will NOT remain on Sounds when the service is scrapped. A repeat of my audio drama on the station remained for just 30 days on Sounds, as it had when broadcast on R4. It's not available anywhere now cough. www.mixcloud.com/espeee/the-h...

Re: BBC 4Xtra / Sounds. Any archive service has to pay creators. The BBC can’t have an infinite database of content paid for via a fixed pool of money from the licence fee. Unless of course they work out the clever method Spotify did (just steal it all with menaces and don’t pay the suppliers).
I’ve just finished listening to a glorious celebration of J B Priestley by @stuartmaconie.bsky.social on 4 Extra. I stumbled across it, pure serendipity, I would never seek it out on an app. That’s how radio works and what a significant linear audience is going to lose.
The death of Radio 4 Extra is a very, very sad day. I am genuinely upset by this decison.

For people wondering why The Canary has come to grief, I have an example. In April, I was due to cover the trial of the men eventually convicted of arson offences against then-PM Sir Keir Starmer. The trial was listed to start on April 27. But it started with two days' jury selection and legal stuff

A cultural artefact. No finer EP was ever produced. Boredom, b'dum b'dum, now on the MB Record Show. We shall never be bored by songs about boredom. Not round here, anyway. buff.ly/nsm1pDZ
Hancock's Half Hour (16th October 1959). "Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain?"
Six weeks working for the gardens department of Gravesham council. I got to be a park keeper, rode the ride on mower and got told to weed more slowly. Glory days. Then I had to go back to uni…
In honor of the fired lady tell me about your shortest job tenure. I worked at a candy store for less than 2 weeks when I was like 16
80s funk opening with a prime banger of the genre. Gan on, George. #TOTP
To think people are watching #celebritytraitors when on #totp they’ve just missed the great Michael Palin introducing Adam and the Ants…
There will never be another headline as good as this. We might as well all give up. We’ve completed the news.

Dear tv and radio producers. Thankyou for the invitation. But, no, I do not want to appear on your show to defend the idea that I am English, after 50 years of living and working here, because the increasingly feral right want to turn this into a "debate" and you cannot see how you're being played
Today's Modculture film club instalment. Almost 60 years since it first appeared on the big screen, Fahrenheit 451 is perhaps more relevant today than at any other time in its history. And it's a great looking movie too. bit.ly/4AYsaB0
This is a bit rich coming from the man responsible for the WE WILL ROCK YOU musical.
Who me? Yes you. Calling of Saint Matthew, 1599, from the church of San Luigi dei Francesi in Rome. By the great Caravaggio, whose day is today.
