Yesterday we had dinner with neighbors. (Trying to live out those community first values!) Their dogs looked very similar, except one was bigger, so I asked if they were related. They were not AND they had specifically adopted a dog that LOOKED like their other dog! Has anyone else done this?

its very telling that the mainstream media narrative is that dsa has wacky and unreasonable positions when the republican party position is that abortion should be banned, latino families should be put in concentration camps, black people should be shot by cops and transgender people shouldnt exist

i am telling y'all 70% of people LOATHE data centers and making it the top issue in the general campaign is probably the smartest thing you can do in some areas there are outsider republicans going hard on it. someone on the left needs to seize the opportunity at any point but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ethan Corson had Kansas unions and the popular Democratic governor going hard for him and he got cooked by ten points by a populist who wants a moratorium on data centers

This is no joke, as a Detroiter waking up on vacation I just came to Bluesky to find out who had won and the first few headlines had me convinced Stevens had. Meanwhile the DSA candidate for our state rep, Chris Gilmore-Hill, beat an incumbent so I’d love that to make the narrative.

The media's takeaway from an El-Sayed win is the same as it would have been from a Stevens win, and the same as it will be if El-Sayed wins the general, or if he loses it: everyone, no matter who they are, needs to take several steps to the right.

an artist I've been obsessed with for the past year, who nobody else seems to have heard of despite the fact that he seems like an overly-online (or even online only) sort of musician by definition, is Jim E. Brown. I'll never get sick of the bit

I only know like three Dua Lipa songs but she always looks like she’s having a great time, just casually rich and fun. Too many rich people out there are getting into drama instead of going on vacation all the time or having a chill husband, but not Dua Lipa

I didn’t know it was an upper-middle-class thing, as babysitters are also plain out of a lot of people’s budgets these days, especially on top of the date night $$$ alresdy. If you don’t have tight-knit friends or family nearby, you’re damn well screwed.

so a thing I have really noticed among the U.S. upper-middle-class is that they use babysitters far, far less than their parents' generation.

every woman has wondered whether her dad would take her side or some man's. many of them have learned the answer and often it's not the answer that you'd assume would be the bare minimum expectation for a father

Should the congressman who is credibly accused of beating and throwing scalding water at your own daughter run for re-election? “I don’t know,” says GOP Senator Bernie Moreno www.notus.org/ohio/bernie-...

Trying to stop talking about this topic so much, but I'm going insane. The people with the "ethical AI" arguments feel exactly like the "economy good, charts for dinner" arguments because area any of them living in a county with 37 data centers, $600 electric bill, and a groundwater drought crisis?

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
