Expected NC names here on the preliminary rosters: - Wickenheiser, Sheridan (Canada) - Sanchez, Jackson (US) Whomever at US Soccer decided that the proper ordering of roster players is "five goalkeepers first, then alphabetical by first name, then another GK"… I just want to talk.

Preliminary rosters are here for the Concacaf W Championship (World Cup qualifying) that starts later this month. Teams will eventually name final 23-player rosters, so keep in mind that means cutting more than half these names in the case of the #USWNT. mcusercontent.com/78d3589fb614...

it’s wonderful that the only thing these bigots are accomplishing is increased sales of trans flags

Winthrop at UNC Asheville Women's Soccer had a BEAR DELAY tonight. There were five black bears that showed up to the match late in the first half (college soccer clock counts down). You can see all five bears in the second pic. Two are behind the bleachers.

Hot take inbound.

It doesn’t matter if it works

Ultimately, whether LLMs "work" as a technology or not doesn't matter. The widespread adoption and deployment should be regarded firstly as a threat to the labor force.

My hottest AI take is that the executive class is petrified of labor and saw that whatever else LLMs are/aren't, they're fine labor-smashers + that a ton of ordinary people find the artificial hyper-complexity and scamminess of modern life and work so unbearable that they'll throw a god-box at it.

North Carolina (at least, this corner of it) continues to have the most boring voting stickers in existence.

Fun example of "be liberal in what you accept" is often a bad idea when you're dealing with nearly 50 years of ad-hoc (re)implementations that all carry their own bits of nonsense. I am curious (cc @sethmlarson.dev) if repositories like PyPI should just bounce odd archives on upload too.

The 3rd annual @espn.com #NWSL Anonymous General Manager survey is here. Unfiltered takes on the High Impact Player rule, calendar changes, travel, rule breaking, how much teams are spending on rosters, and more:

women's sports thrive when you say loud and proud "this is a premier sports product, not a sideshow or a lesser version of the men's game" it's hard to sell that when you put the WNBA game before the NBA game like they're the JV team

Rodger Sherman@rodger.bsky.social · last wk.

big failure from the NBA to not get two of its teams to move one (1) regular season game. the NBA owns 42% of the WNBA (functionally more, since a lot of NBA owners own teams) and should be invested in wanting the league to grow, even at minor expense to its more popular product

how in the world could the NBA not move a hawks/cavs regular season game to another date? you have until April to make that game up

new fresh hell just dropped

In the last few weeks i've been bombarded with emails from people who have minor tech support problems. ChatGPT is telling them to email me, writing their emails, and compiling "evidence packets" after convincing them they have stumbled on a major story: www.404media.co/chatgpt-keep...

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

so the xx/xy group plan to 'protect women's sports' by infiltrating supporters' sections, whining online about being called names, then posting photos and trying to dox teams' most passionate fans? at this point not treating them like a hate group akin to the proud boys or kkk is willful ignorance.

I very much believe that if you reference Open Cup and FA Cup in your press release about a new tournament that your new tournament should actually resemble those two things and include amateur teams. That's the growth. Not two div. I leagues.

Shoutout to @meglinehan.com mentioning that if the Arthur Blank Crest Cup wants to call itself the women's soccer Open Cup, there should be amateur teams involved. (Also subscribe to Full Time)
