We actually don't need to justify ourselves to kinkshaming scum. We never did, and never will. It is important to brutally, mercilessly rub their faces in it at every possible opportunity: we do not answer to them. They have no power over us, or the fandom. They are not welcome in any fandom space.

"Debate me about your fetish" No, I'm good. You're regurgitating fascist propaganda and pedojacketing queer people living their best life. There's nothing to "debate." You're just a bad person. I'd say you lost this cultural battle 2 decades ago, but you probably weren't born yet

If you have a few minutes this week (and ideally every week), take the time to send an email, DM, or just make a public post directly to the maintainer of an open source project you appreciate.

Unions are a great way to help developers, but how can regular fans help? Just remember the one-two punch! 1. Support games developed by unionized devs! (An easy way to find out is to look up Studio+Union) 3. Circulate pro-union material (like this post) and keep the conversation alive!

Generative AI is not only fundamentally based on the rejection of consent, but also *standards*. Artists have been micromanaged and hounded over individual pixels, academics fighting to defend every minute detail of their thesis, etc, and then are tossed away in favor of the get shit wrong machine.

ahem, AI CANNOT ASSIGN COPYRIGHT. YOU WILL NOT OWN THE THINGS THIS THING MAKES EVEN IF THEY TRY AND ASSIGN IT TO YOU. USING THIS WOULD TECHNICALLY BE IN VIOLATION OF 100% OF PUBLISHER AGREEMENTS I HAVE SEEN

'The road to Unreal Engine 6' - www.unrealengine.com/news/the-roa... "for UE6, we see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need."

I tell people at cons that to stick with drawing or any kind of art, you need two things: 1) have so much fun you can’t stop 2) train yourself to have a high frustration tolerance If you have 1 and not 2, you won’t improve. If you have 2 and not 1, it’s a miserable chore. Then I show them this:

A post by Youtube Journalist and Essayist Defunctland saying “I hate literally every step in the filmmaking process. The only thing I hate more than making a film is not making a film.”

It's hard to train yourself be confrontational about what you beleive in if you've trained yourself to be quiet because your parents told you not to talk back. You're an adult now. You can speak up for what you beleive in. You can practice your responses and guide someone to be better.

Additional scripts for cis het white men who want to be better allies: “What a weird thing to say” “Do you hear yourself right now?” “You shouldn’t say shit like that to people” “I won’t let you talk to them that way” “That’s a disgusting opinion to have” “Shut the fuck up, dude”

Some people have misunderstood this. We literally saw how Claude itself, coded by Claude, turns one API call into a DOS of thousands upon thousands of API calls done in the sloppiest fucking way possible. This postmortem shows Bluesky vibecoded a function to DOS itself, in a similarly stupid way.

pckt.blog/b/jcalabro/a... The postmortem of the *last* big outage shows that it was because they DOS'd themselves through vibecoded slop.

"I don't know why you hate ChatGPT so much" idk maybe because it stole from me and all my friends, it's terrible for the environment, it's driving up energy prices, it's quantifiably making people worse at using their brains, it's a tool of fascism, and also it doesn't even do what it says it does??

a) Some video games are genuinely better without voice acting (see: Undertale) b) Voice acting is so much cheaper than people realize. I'm directing an indie game and even at SAG rates, with as much voiced dialogue as Hades, we're probably not going to break even $30k. One session is like $500.

Wander@wanderbot.bsky.social · 5mo ago

I'm so sick of seeing AI disclaimers like this. The solution to not having the budget for voice acting isn't to use AI, it's to not have voice acting at all! Games don't need VO to be good! By jamming in slopvoices, you're not making your game better, you're making it worse and reprehensible!

A Steam AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

AI-generated voiceovers for ingame characters. This is a indie no-budget production. Sorry :-'(

I had neighbors back in the US who let their cats out basically every day arguing "but they want to go have fun outside!" so I asked "yeah and if your kids wanted ice cream for every meal, would you give it to them or tell them it wouldn't be good for them?"

Tansy 🔞 🔜 FD 18+ Den@tansy.bsky.social · 5mo ago

Hey you! Hi! Keep your cats inside please. I love birds and I love cats. It isn’t safe for cats outside and they’re killing local wildlife and they’re in mortal danger when they leave the house. If you love your cats, you need to start looking into keeping them indoors ASAP. Please learn this.
