I need people to understand that for the last half decade that there’s been an ecosystem of trans folks in sports media who have worked unpaid to serve as experts for context, sources and educators on what it’s like for trans athletes, in hopes of potential bylines and contacts. That’s dried up.

I hate sounding like a conspiracy person but there’s a reason that this Sophie Cunningham thing is on like day 7 of discourse and how there’s absolutely very little trans staff writers driving the news coverage of it.

Deeply disappointed at the comments on my Ken Jennings video. People would rather have empathy for a cis person than the trans person mocked. Yeah it’s the trans persons fault for lightly pointing out to a cis person the New York Times is bad actually to trans person. She’s making it about herself.

When you pass the buck of American imperialism to the German Nazis, you don't just draw attention to how bad the US has become, you exonerate both the Nazis and the historic imperialists/authoritarians of your own country, since the former were inspired by the latter.

You can all talk about how absurd this is, but we live in a country where it’s acceptable to turn the one time someone made you feel stupid into your entire personality right up to your last breath, even if said last breath came early because you refused to listen to people smarter than you.

He will never understand that being "the fat guy from Superbad" is infinitely better than being "the martial arts chud nobody likes"

Jonah Hill says jiu jitsu has him ready to
"annihilate" anyone who still sees him as the fat guy from Superbad
"I love Brazilian jiu jitsu, except my body is begging me not to love it. My wife is often like,
'You're not going to become a professional fighter. You know that, right? You're a comedian"
"If we got into it, I would f*ck you up. I would f*ck all three of you up"
"My favorite thing is people are like, 'Oh, Jonah Hill, f*cking fat guy from Superbad.' And I'm like, 'I would f*cking annihilate you, dude. I'm not kidding you. Try it. If you see me, try it, dude. Bring it. Who's got it?'"
SMARTLESS
Sirius?

I’ve been holding back on this so I don’t jinx it, but he’s been with us since Saturday and so far is settling in extremely well, so I think it’s time y’all knew. Meet our new five-and-a-half-month-old supervisor, Virgil, who loves snuggles, being comfy, and chasing his new dad around the backyard.

Virgil, a floofy white dog with hazel eyes and a black nose freckled and ringed with pink, lies down happily, if somewhat apprehensively, on a comforter while wearing a blue harness and leash.Virgil sleeps next to a corduroy-pattern bag filled with toys.Virgil cuddles with his mother in her lap, but because he also wants his dad to pet him, he flips his head upside down.Virgil sits on a blue couch, looking up at me, his dainty little front paws crossed in front of him. He's so cute!

Por el amor de Dios, if you’re going to use ballplayer Enrique Hernández’s nickname*, could you at least put the accent on the end that makes it not a slur? * I still say it’s partly his fault for choosing to spell it like that, when my entire life, including in my own family, it’s been “Quique.”

It's weird when people bristle at the idea of abolishing billionaires. Are you a billionaire? Is your mum one? Why do you care? It would be good to abolish billionaires. More money for public services, less money for them to buy rape islands.

What if instead of starting substacks in twenty-fucking-twenty-six people learned to give one iota of a fuck about whether they want to associate themselves with nazis.

Cabo Rojo frontline communities under threat by luxury coastal developments that threaten habitability and permanently alter nature reserves. These megaresorts receive public subsidies and tax breaks but create parallel governments that restrict who can enjoy “public enhancements”.

I cannot imagine the set of circumstances that would get me to favor a salary cap, but what I *can* tell you is that I’m a lot less likely to care either way when even regular ol’ hating gets you called a fucking Pinkerton by some dick who’s given the economics of baseball two seconds of thought.

“i can’t believe society is like this!” -covid forgetters/post pandemic pretenders who won’t even mask for grandma, dad in chemo, and damn sure not strangers just trying to survive unmitigated airborne viruses in this post public health crisis

I’m astonished by the ability of my fellow humans to forget the events we all just lived through. Folks remember the masks and the remote school. The million US dead are rarely mentioned. Folks, we lived through a plague.

What drives me mad about online sports discourse is that I have to vociferously and constantly defend the right of a bunch of guys we’ve chosen to remunerate half-decently to cross picket lines, but I do a job that has to strike on behalf of other workers to get any goodwill from you fuckers.

Noah S. McKinnon 🇵🇷🇨🇺@nsmckinnon.latinsky.app · 3d ago

You know who else crossed that picket line? www.peoplesworld.org/article/l-a-... You know who didn’t? The Astros, because, believe it or not, the IBEW told them not to and then-union rep Collin McHugh took that shit seriously. nwlaborpress.org/2018/12/hall...
