ICE has killed three people this week. But a liberal at my World Cup watch party used the words “football,” “pitch,” and “kit,” plus “sport” as a plural noun. I have never felt more politically homeless.
I'm not enough of a classicist to answer this as written, but I will say that a Canterbury Tales mini-series---modernized and with a sufficiently cheeky director---could be nothing short of brilliant.

The reason why it is essential to read IN BULK when studying history is not simply to amass empirical knowledge—though that is important, too, of course—but because *interpretation* requires thick contextual awareness, and there is NO SHORTCUT for building that up that awareness.

This incredible oak ship’s figurehead is Germanic. Dating to the early C5th AD, you can just imagine these looming out of the sea mists as the first Germanic warriors, who went on to become the Anglo-Saxons, arrived on English shores after the Romans departed. Amazing find. 🏛️📷

This is very sad and I truly feel for these farmers. But let’s be clear about why anyone selects a candidate. It’s not to obtain some specific policy outcome. Brad voted for Trump bc he liked the way Trump made him feel (powerful) and bc all his buddies were voting for Trump, too.
