A red flame in Barad-dûr, based on the conversation in the most recent shelved by genre episode. I wanted the city to look both industrial and unsettling, so I tried to use a real mix of building styles, and avoid too many curves/natural shapes.

A scan of a pen and ink drawing of Barad-dûr, inspired by the conversation in the most recent shelved by genre episode. It shows the moment when Frodo, on Mount Doom, looks towards Barad-dûr and as the clouds part sees a red flame in the highest tower, the only image of Sauron the books give us. The drawing depicts barad-dûr in dense, hatched pen, full of narrow, crowded streets and industrial buildings, shrouded in darkness and cloud. A red pen has been used to mark the flame, the only colour in the drawing.

The hole in my back tooth is growing, the tooth next to it is chipped further, there's always a bad taste in my mouth, and we have no appointment because very few dentists take medicaid. And Jellybean's vet bill still isn't paid, which means I can't just buy a water pik. Paypal.me/thelionmachine

any response to transphobia that falls short of open hostility is support, as has been the case in the defense of the most politically vulnerable population at any other point in history. politeless and decorum are dark alleys where disenfranchised people are hurt and killed out of your sight

I don't know about the UK, but photographing strangers without their consent in places with a high expectation of privacy (bathrooms, locker rooms, etc) is a great way to find yourself in a lot of legal hot water pretty damn quick. Don't ever do this. It's weird and creepy, no matter who is inside.

Of course we all know what would happen if this person wasn’t a white Christian, but also, this kind of proselytizing is not about converting or even delivering a message to anyone. It’s a self-aggrandizing act of domination. It’s an actual sin of vanity.

Evangelist Whitney Lynn says she preaches on planes because she loves “a captive audience.” She's not alone. It's becoming a trend. If spreading your message requires listeners who can't escape, maybe it's not as compelling as you think. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...

I’m gonna say it here since she disabled comments: The point of this practice is almost never to get new members but to calcify existing ones by inciting backlash, thereby teaching them how hostile the world is to people of their faith. Public shaming plays right into the leadership’s hands.

We need to bring back public shaming. Any chance this is some kind of crime? Causing disruption on an aircraft? I guarantee this wouldn't be allowed if someone whose religion wasn't Christianity tried it.

it's sooo funny that the marvel movies eventually replicated the exact thing people disliked about the comics and preferred the movies for: overstuffed event crossovers that intimidate readers, demand you look at a whole bunch of other shit to know the story, and don't even tell a good story
