You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.
this sounds unbelievable except i just heard my Winnetka aunt talk about being baffled by the quarter-carts at Aldi and actually not going in because of it (which my snobby ass wanted to point out that it’s utterly normal in a European grocery, but go off…)

I've been burglarized and had my car broken into AND had my catalytic converter stolen and... the cops did not do anything, although yes I had to file a report for insurance. hell I have had a close friend be a victim of a violent crime and they did not do anything. I am still an abolitionist.

I worked there in like... 200...6? 7? 8? for a year or so and it was definitely no more toxic than any other media i've worked for. by far less catty than the wedding studio and I was never driven to tears like I was at the business magazine (!)

What it would do -- which would be controversial -- is redistribute health care spending from premiums and out-of-pocket costs to taxes.
