The reason Trump’s approval keeps hitting a new all-time low every day, and why Republicans might lose the Senate, is because GOP voters are losing their enthusiasm for his agenda, while independents move in droves toward an energized Democratic base. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/2026-08-04...

">900 people in Washtenaw County, MI, have been sickened with cyclosporiasis since mid-June. Linda Kim, a public health nurse, has called >100 of them. Almost everyone has said the same thing: It’s excruciating, and one of the worst illnesses they’ve experienced." kffhealthnews.org/public-healt...

there’s a ton of unfounded health claims (mostly from the weird doc) and the author also makes a lot of causal claims on “what happens to you when you eat like this” based on his perceptions of his singular experience which is… not how any of this works
antiscience quacks are often really weird also, no a Bristol 4 Type 4 stoool is not "indicative of healthy rectal function and, if nobody knows you're pooping in the corner of a room at a dinner party, you may have some serious issues
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
It sounds like refusal to hire more nurses and forcing nurses to care for more patients at one time is a big part of this. Failing adequate staffing, they should try ... paying people more.

My Gen Z employees have taught me that putting the !! sticker on a text means you agree with what the person is saying and not “omfg are you kidding me?!?” (as I had been using it frequently) and now I’m spiraling.

Depicting Jewish people with horns is a centuries-old, dehumanizing, antisemitic trope. Democratic Gov nominee Phil Weiser is outspoken about his mother’s birth in a Nazi concentration camp, his family members killed in the Holocaust, and the threat posed by antisemitism today.
hospitals want us to do more with less without a concern for patient safety or our own wellbeing while refusing to pay us adequate wages
Stop Saying There's a Nursing Shortage
The U.S. may have less of a shortage of licensed nurses than a shortage of nurses who are willing to work in bedside jobs that have become increasingly demanding.

interesting that even in an article that is very much pro-nurse the early frame is that nurses are not willing to work in jobs that have become increasingly demanding and not jobs are underpaying nurses

It's pretty infuriating that Trump is denying disaster aid to Oregon for political reasons and I have barely heard anything about it, while Biden was falsely accused of doing the exact same thing to North Carolina and millions of people believed that
There’s obviously nothing wrong with people going into the skilled trades, but most trades have their own systems through which people get trained. Also, I would be curious to see how many Republican administration officials and elected leaders have Gen Z kids who work in the trades.
In a college sociology class in the late 1980s I was assigned a Marxist analysis of education that argued that the US education system is designed primarily to produce efficient workers for the labor market. And now Trump’s Department of Education is just tweeting it out.
