I've seen this a couple times. Worked in a Family Law office briefly during law school. Some people will do anything to try to hurt their ex and using the child or their favorite toy to do is sadly not that uncommon in high conflict cases.

I would rather have pronghorn antelope and bighorn sheep and elk and purple sage and four wing saltbrush than data centers and so far no one in tech has presented a compelling vision for how to have all of those things, they just seize more resources for the plagiarism engine.
