I improvise. I open space, I facilitate. I make unforgettable theatre, amongst others. Director My Neighbour Totoro. Akhenaten Artistic Director @ www.improbable.co.uk www.devotedanddisgruntled.com

I didn't realise Phelim McDermott's 'Tao Of Glass' was currently on a run in London's Soho. To this day I still believe it to be one of the finest and most moving theatre productions I've ever seen. If you have the chance, please, you have to go x www.theguardian.com/stage/2026/j...

Tao of Glass review – stage magic as McDermott meditates on the minimalist master

This multifaceted and intensely personal homage to – and collaboration with – composer Philip Glass is a transcendent tapestry suffused with joy and wonder.

‘Tao of Glass’ at Soho Place is a riveting tapestry of music, mystery & memory: Phelim McDermott is wit, raconteur, visionary & sage all rolled into one, making this universal, generous body of work deeply personal. I loved it.

Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft came to see a show we made with The Tiger Lillies. “Shock-Headed Peter”. After the show they came backstage and he said. “We are very proud of you.” Happy Birthday Mel I’m proud of you for making it to 100.

Finally saw My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre last night. The only word I can use to describe it is magical. A really classy production top to bottom from an insanely talented Japanese team. The puppets are jaw dropping.

We had a flying visit to London yesterday to catch My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre. One of the most remarkable stage productions I’ve ever seem. Literally magical. Do catch it if you can before the Catbus leaves the West End in Jan 2027. #Totoro

The outside of the Gillian Lynne theatre in Covent Garden shows an enormous artwork for My Neighbour Totoro.
