Probably more helpful to think of them not so much as “Canadian wildfires” but rather “climate change wildfires currently consuming Canada”

Big step: Fivefold mobile beta is out to testers! Getting some great feedback already. Feels good to be getting closer to the finish line. :)

We released an update to Fivefold yesterday. We improved the share text, and when you solve a puzzle, it now shows you a graph of everyone's times who have solved the puzzle so far today! Fivefold #247 (Jul 15, 2026) fivefold.ca ✨ 1:27 🏆 0 hints

Screenshot of a screen from the Fivefold web puzzle post-game screen. It reads: "Daily Puzzle #247. July 15, 2026. Solve time: 1:27. Next puzzle in 14:40:39"
Below the text is a histogram graph showing times along the bottom, and bars above them at different heights showing how many players had solve times of different lengths. A thicker white line shows my time of 1:27 on the graph.

Spent several hours playing with #GREATARTIST this week and I'm starting to get a feel for how to nudge it in certain directions intentionally, while it also remains spontaneous and unpredictable. These are titled "RAM Shortage", "Misremembering", "Rothko 2.0", and "Woven Dreams", respectively.

Title: "RAM Shortage" made in Become a Great Arstist in Just 10 Seconds.
Glitchy pixel art that is a series of concentric squares defined by jagged lines of different colours, mostly yellows, greens, and reds, with a black background.Title: "Misremembering" made in Become a Great Arstist in Just 10 Seconds.
Glitchy pixel art. Pinks and purple lines hint at some square shapes, while in the centre a dark blue and green area appears to float in the background. Some of the pixels are bleeding in a hot pink colour over the colours to their left.Title: "Rothko 2.0" made in Become a Great Arstist in Just 10 Seconds.
Glitchy pixel art. Predominantly white square, with a smaller square of bright colours in the top center of the image. That colourful square is mostly greens, but with some reds at the top and purples at the bottom, and the colours have vertical streaks running through them.Title: "Woven Dreams" made in Become a Great Arstist in Just 10 Seconds.
Glitchy pixel art. Bright lines of blues and oranges criss-cross across a bright red background, given a vague appearance of fabric woven from brightly coloured threads.

the 868-BACK update that just went up on steam - aside from the usual long list of bug fixes (SO MANY INTERACTIONS) - has a new screen layout specifically for steam deck that has some larger icons and clearer text to work better on the small screen.

older games often have a display centric approach to real-time rendering, like, painting lighting into object textures was very common, or straight up using photographs as textures this lets you take very direct control over the look! modern rendering is different (short thread)

Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer (2002) how the did they get the water to look like that, this is incredible I don't mean the reflections, look at the shape of the wave as it moves, the lighting, the glow.. This and the game loop are **amazing** and needs to be studied This is lost technology oh my god

Don't forget that BECOME A GREAT ARTIST IN JUST 10 SECONDS is available again, and you should play with it if you haven't before (and if you have). I made this today. I call it "Mycelial Prism"

Glitchy pixelated image. On the right is a kind of fuzzy purplish column in the foreground. Behind it is are stretched and distorted bands of rainbow colours. The bottom of the image is mostly white.

Pixel hailstorm art

This is what the entire video is intended to couch. It’s the only part that matters. “We can’t afford to restrain the growth of an important part of our energy mix, oil and gas, to meet a short term goal,” Carney said. “Our emissions will be higher in the next few years”

If you want to ragebait yourself, watch this. It’s a lot of fear mongering and bullshit to say, effectively, that we’re doing a shock doctrine and we’re abandoning our climate targets. Happy Canada Day Eve, everyone.
