It's Banned Books Week, y'all. Books are so wonderful. Read them. Think about them. Buy them. Share them. Talk about a book that changed you this week. A book that made you BETTER

I preach next week, and I am perusing Sermons That Work on #TEC website, and I see @franklogue.bsky.social 's sermon ("Off Guard") on this bit from the Lectionary back in 2008. Nice! 📕
The beguine order I am an aspirant to is Franciscan and seeks to minister especially to the LGBTQIA community and help us all find our place in the church. I think of Frnacis making friends with a wolf. There are many ways to love our neighbors and our enemies. Many are human.
#tec I think parishes would do well to have a blessing of lepers and all outcasts and not just cute pets.
Should have recognized my calling as a preacher earlier. I have been doing that since I was 18.
A strange honor as a priest (which I hope I don’t have to make good on anytime soon) is when friends and colleagues put me in their funeral plans. ⚓️
#ToPray ✝️⚓️ Men who turn the consequences of the Fall into a blueprint for the church have mistaken the wreckage of Eden for the architecture of the Kingdom. (Wade Burleson)
I don't love linking orthodoxy to liturgy - lots of our non-liturgical pals are part of this movement. My take: "The received doctrine is serious and true, and its only natural conclusion is radical, inclusive love."
Dumb phones and watches that tick are looking increasingly tempting. I don’t want an “AI” dystopia. Would much prefer a reality in which human flourishing is prized. It’s just, you know, Christianity. ⚓️
A Jewish scholar chosen to lead the Catholic Biblical Assn. is hit by antisemitic backlash www.latimes.com/world-nation... I love her JEWISH ANNOTATED NEW TESTAMENT. #TEC
A Jewish scholar chosen to lead the Catholic Biblical Assn. is hit by antisemitic backlash
Amy-Jill Levine, a Jewish scholar of Christian Scriptures, has faced antisemitic backlash after being elected the first Jewish president of the Catholic Biblical Assn. of America.

Augustine— imperfect, weird, body-shaming Augustine—is central to this queer person’s conversion to Christianity. Reading Confessions after the loss of my sister was profound in ways that are beyond words. I don’t buy all of his theology. But I am moved intensely by his piety. 🕯️
Reading Facebook for 12 minutes reminds me why my social media of choice is bluesky. Granted, I miss family and neighbor pictures, but they are buried amidst so much high intensity, emotional, provoking garbage I cannot handle it.🕯️
My wild and wonderful Narthex community! What do you have on AI and TEC or Anglicanism? I am collecting info, reports, theology, etc. I have info from Methodists, ELCA, and Roman Catholics. Gimme gimme gimme. Feel free to DM me to connect to send me stuff. Thanks in advance. 🕯️
So. This is a super silly *delightful* thought prompt. No shade to the creator And I still looked at it and went: $5.6B could end so much hunger and inequity. I ached and couldn’t finish the thought. I wish the world was ok enough I could think about art guiltlessly.
youve got 5.6 billion to make a 7 season 56 episode show airing over 15 years, wdyd
ProTip: before you write something like this, read literally anything about McCarthyism. See also: the Cultural Revolution, Stalin’s purges.

Because I've seen two clergy in the last day comment on how they've given up on universalism because of seeing the evil people do, I feel like I've got to reaffirm—for my fellow universalists out there—that Christian universalism is not about people being good enough but about God's faithfulness ⚓
In case it turns out to be exactly the thing you needed to hear today: Scott Dettra, Music Director at St. Peter’s in McKinney, TX chants the Daily Office beautifully on this free podcast of Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Compline. thedailyofficechanted.podbean.com 🕯️

May I request your prayers? Health stuff got weird and frightening today. ⚓️
Still actively looking for folks who want sermon support! Going live on some exchanging already. Happy to add folks as we go! Lay preachers especially welcomed!! ⚓️
So heya Narthex ⚓... Are there any preachers on here (lay or clergy) who might be interested in doing sermon prep/exchanges/critiques? I'm offering myself for assistance as much as I am asking for help. I am sure most of you already have brain trusts or study groups, so maybe I'm the odd one out. 1/
My 8am guest preaching sermon is down. 10am to go. At least the priest liked it. lol ⚓️
We have decided to remove a short story from Issue 153 of Apex Magazine. After meeting with our reading and editorial teams, we'd like to share with you what happened, and importantly, how we plan to move forward from here. Thank you for sticking with us. 💜👽
A Christianity rooted in patriarchy will always define women first and foremost by their relationship to men. A Christianity rooted in the gospel of Jesus will see women first and foremost as human beings created in God's image. May we understand the difference.
Your last saved celebrity pic on your phone is your therapist. Look. He would be doing that anyway. Not just because I am his client.
Your last saved celebrity pic on your phone is your therapist. Oh no.
⚓️ my siblings in Christ, things like this make me want to jump out of the boat completely. People ask me sincerely how can I belong to the same religion as people this rotten I am beginning to run out of answers. “This is heresy,” is straightforward, but shallow.
Preaching that God has assigned black people to "a civilizational station of subordination and dependence" due to the Curse of Ham, Christian nationalist pastor Dale Partridge calls for a "return to European Christian colonization of African nations." www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwat...
