“A lot of people see artificial intelligence as something that is largely automated, frictionless, and just appears as a useful tool for us. But most of the human hours that go into making artificial intelligence possible are outsourced to various locations in the Global South.”

AI Is Only Possible Because of Global South Workers in “Digital Sweatshops”

James Muldoon discusses the global supply chains of AI and how people are forming emotional attachments with chatbots.

It's not a coincidence that he posted this on X. If you spend time there regularly, then a statement like this seems perfectly savvy, even edgy. It's just another example of how X cooks smart people's brains. There is no safe level of exposure.

what is it with ex obama people and misreading the room lol? this whole thing sparked a news cycle and endless earned media, feels like a slam dunk to me

Trump's covert surveillance of anti-ICE protesters is much worse than we thought. I dug into this and found that DHS agents secretly spied on over a dozen meetings of left-leaning groups, all protected by First Amendment. The details are unnerving. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/2144...

Trump’s Secret Police Spying on Americans? It’s Darker than We Knew.

Court papers reveal that the Department of Homeland Security’s covert surveillance of anti-ICE groups is much darker than it first appeared. Welcome to Donald Trump’s America.

Absolutely staggering: 152 cases involving ICE and CBP officials or contractors accused or convicted of crimes. 131 involved sex offenses. 78 involved children. Maybe the people demanding unlimited power to hunt down “criminals” should spend a little more time looking inside their own agencies.

ICE and CBP are full of rapists and child predators. A new report details it in horrific detail.

It's insane to me that we don't treat unfounded accusations against Muslims and/or Arabic people of supporting 9/11 as fundamentally, irredeemably racist. Islamophobia is racism. It's racism with extra steps, but it's racism, and we should call it what it is

Not sure if one thing has to do with another, but Michael LaRosa was on C-SPAN yesterday and took a lot of heat from Democrat callers, which saw him fire back and once again claim that El-Sayed is a "coward" for not standing up to Piker -- who he falsely said "justifies" terrorism and 9/11.

NEW: Ex-Biden Aide Michael LaRosa *FIRES BACK* at Michigan Dem C-SPAN Caller who rips him for attacking Abdul El-Sayed🔥

Caller: "As a Democratic strategist coming on a national program, I think that’s totally UNACCEPTABLE — and I think that you’re doing a DISSERVICE!"

LaRosa: "I could NEVER support El-Sayed ... if you're too COWARDLY and too WEAK to stand up to somebody who JUSTIFIES terrorism, 9/11, the suffering of people ... this guy doesn’t have it in him to say it’s WRONG to say that."

"The test of leadership is NOT standing up to the other side. That’s EASY to do. It's standing up to your FRIENDS. And he's too much of a COWARD to do it."

Major props to Michael LaRosa for putting his principles over his party. It shows true courage.

He's taking tons of heat from his own side — including multiple callers during his appearance here on

Experts urge schools to keep teaching writing in the age of AI, not even because of its importance per se but because it’s essential to developing habits of mind: “Writing is a technology for thinking” www.nytimes.com/2026/08/17/u...

What Do Students Lose When They Stop Writing? (Gift Article)

Educators are worried that many students can no longer write essays without A.I. And it’s costing more than just grammar skills.

The problem is that farmers and ranchers have an extremely lucrative, free resource from the government (basically free water to irrigate low-value and feed crops) and there is precisely zero political will to take that away from them and so instead we're going to do an ecological disaster.

SCOOP: 404 Media placed a tracking device in a shipment of rare books to see which AI company was buying it. What did we find? It ended up at an Amazon facility where Amazon scans and destroys books. Yes. This is literally the logo outside the Amazon warehouse door. Read now:

Democrats should cut their ties to these organizations. Moreover, I think there should be a legal requirement that all fundraisers call any person who has made an excessive number of donations to call the donor and ask whether s/he can say roughly how many donations s/he has made in the last year.

Adam Bonica@adambonica.bsky.social · 5d ago

The fundraising texts you delete are working on someone. It’s infuriating and heartbreaking. An 85yo in Ohio gave more than double the value of his home. A 91yo in an Indianapolis senior facility gave 25K times. The DCCC/DSCC don’t just tolerate the spammers who exploit seniors. They take part.
