It has been criminally underreported but Kelsey Pfendler has just rowed solo across the Pacific Ocean from the US coast to Hawaii in record time. A 2,400-mile unsupported journey in 43 days, 17 hours, and 55 minutes. Notably beating the Men’s record by 9 whole days.
My big hypothesis is that the old state flag discourse is just a replacement for all of the Trump flags that folks no longer feel comfortably flying. Was surprised driving up north last weekend how few Trump flags or decals I saw. The old state flag is just a less embarrassing way of vice signaling.

Yes, the GOP controls Congress. That's why it's key to show Congress COULD stop the madness. And it's not just the DHS bill. Congress could repeal the prior multi-year $75b for DHS; set up a special investigative committee (cf. Watergate); amend the Insurrection Act; etc.
Dems should introduce lots of such legislation, demand hearings and debate, make a huge fuss, use paid media to call out GOP members who are blocking their consideration--and make clear this GOP Congress is enabling the madness.

If you are surprised that everyday non-political/non-activist Minnesotans are rising up against ICE, you have not been to Minnesota. Lived in the TC for ten years, never known people more likely help a stranger out. Not that other places are hostile. But Minnesota raises the bar.
It’s easy to watch the news and feel overwhelmed or even helpless at everything going on. I need you to fight that feeling. I’m an optimist. You have to be when you strap yourself to a rocket for a living. But there’s real reason to be hopeful this year and l’ll tell you why.
