The Money on the Left Collective joins the Beacon podcast to rethink how we talk about money and public spending. They dig into public banking, why money doesn’t have to be treated as a scarce resource, and how states like Maine could use public finance to invest in public needs. Listen now!

This Epstein drop is HUGE and utterly disgusting. I don’t see how this man is allowed to remain in office. Where are the evangelical leaders, the soccer moms, the folks stocking up on eggs, the farmers, the small business owners. Decide. Who are you?

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

Anyone who ever trusted mega-corporations to do the right thing was wrong. That should be clear to all by now. Profit will always be their priority. Everything else comes last. Their ideology is a death cult. If we don't regulate these monsters into planetary boundaries we lose everything.

It sure looks like every last major tech firm is abandoning past commitments to end their use of fossil fuels. Particularly concerning given how we know that fossil fuel burning power plants are being built NOW with the explicit aim of powering data centers www.nationalobserver.com/2025/09/04/i...

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu: “Under the Trump administration, groceries are less affordable, housing is harder to build, cures for cancer are farther away, and good news on our economy has been as hard to find as the Epstein list.”

“During the course of the 26-day sit-in, the Black Panther Party played a leading support role in providing food for the demonstrators. Over and over again, the disabled protesters credited the BPP with literally sustaining their struggle, “keeping us alive body and soul,” as one person put it.”

In 1977, Disabled activists occupied the Federal Building in San Francisco to demand the passage of Section 504— legislation to protect against disability discrimination. When the building was cordoned off, in an effort to starve activists out, The Black Panthers *Broke In* to deliver them hot meals.

look I'm not myself a political scientist so I can't say what effects it would have for a spate of politicians to crop up saying "the enemy is the oligarchy" and "the enemy is billionaires" while swinging a kettlebell but I think we should try it for science and see what happens

Graham Platner for Senate@grahamformaine.bsky.social · last yr.

My name is Graham Platner and I’m running for US Senate to defeat Susan Collins and topple the oligarchy that’s destroying our country. I’m a veteran, oysterman, and working class Mainer who’s seen this state become unlivable for working people. And that makes me deeply angry.

In 2016 this guy went to a law office with the goal of killing his wife’s lawyer. He hacked a woman to death with a machete and bludgeoned two other people to death (including a man he falsely thought was that lawyer), then set fire to the building to cover his tracks. Anyway, Trump just freed him.

The America First geniuses managed to send hairdressers and soccer players into a gulag and *import* a triple murderer into the US. Nice work. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/24/w...

Trump today: "I'm surprised he [Jerome Powell] was appointed. I'm surprised frankly that Biden put him in." Trump in November 2017: "It is my pleasure and my honour to announce my nomination of Jerome Powell to be the next chairman of the Federal Reserve."

We should all realize by now that federal budget deficits are not the problem. The national debt is not a "bill that future generations need to pay." The federal government has Constitutional authority to create unlimited $$ to pay its bills. The real problem is fascism.

The debt, deportation, and death bill has passed. Congress further decimates care work to fund violence work. Vital services eviscerated and ICE becomes the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency ever known. It hasn’t been sold this way, but it’s a massive public jobs program for fascists.

With this vote, Congress makes ICE the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency in history, with more money per year at its disposal over the next four years than the budgets of the FBI, DEA, ATF, US Marshals, and Bureau of Prisons combined.
