Am oft befuddled by people who claim their actions/interests are "not political". As Grace Paley once said, politics is how we want people to be treated. Imho, everything is political. Imho, to think otherwise is a position of privilege, if not wilful ignorance.

First episode of Locked Out with Craig Renney drops tomorrow morning on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube with a conversation around electricity prices. Dis you know that there was a period last year when every dollar you paid for electricity had 92c profit for the provider?

They tried this in Australia and it led to a wave of homelessness because people couldn't pay rent or utilities. Landlords also complained about missing out on rent money. The policy was scrapped. It won't work here either and everyone knows it. It will only create hardship. #nzpol

Old Article (August 2024) "Half of the benefit will go onto a payment card that can only be used for a limited range of essential products and services" Given that rent usually made up well over 50% of my benefit in 2009, I can't see how this works for those in the same situation.

If the Trump regime can disappear a NZ citizen into a no-backsies hellhole jail in a third country for visiting the USA legally for business or to visit family or see the sites, the USA is no longer safe to visit and the NZ govt should issue a travel warning saying so So should every other country

It is good to see defense spending going up. Some insist that this is unnecessary. Some insist that there is no good reason for anyone to attack us. The sad reality is that the world is full of irrational governments that don't need a good reason to wage war.

Just remembered how Seymour went on about how Luxon might change his mind about voting down ACTs stupid fuckin piece of shit bill at its second reading once he saw the weight of public opinion get expressed during the select committee process
