There is a real enemy to fight in this moment, and it’s not each other. To me that’s the greatest tragedy of this time because I don’t know how we overcome this if we don’t work together.
I’ll be honest I thought it was dangerous when right wing folks were filming, felt less concerned when I realized it was revoke people, but a random man you don’t know with his face half covered following u/ filming you while you’re alone is not awesome. Some folks walked me to make sure I was safe
So I’ll repeat again: Councilors cannot make statements on a land use decision like the Macadam permit or they could be deemed as biased when it comes back to Council for a decision. We would be recused from the vote.
I started getting followed on my way home from an anti-war rally by a guy who was filming me so I assumed he was a right wing agitator and then he was a revoke person…demanding I answer why I support keeping the building open (I’ve never given a statement either way bc it’s a quasi judicial matter)
This captured the dignity and bravery I witness in Portlanders every day. Started tearing up reading it. From kids to elderly people, everyone showed bravery and a discipline to look out for their neighbors that day. I love the people of this city so much.

They were shooting tear gas at the back of the crowd, it took these unmasked people maybe 3-5 minutes in the cloud of tear gas to escape in without trampling. www.theverge.com/policy/87278...

🌸 Erica 🌸@metamorphosiscrow.bsky.social · 8mo agoI lost two family members unexpectedly this past Thursday… I wake up today 2 proof I and other Portland renters who lost housing during 2022 and 2023 were cheated out housing stability cause the department sat on over 42 MILLION IN TOTAL OF HOUSING AND RENTAL SUPPORT. I’m so tired & broken😭
That goes for what’s happened in Palestine as well. The surveillance technology they tested on Palestinians is now being used against us at home. The imperial boomerang always comes back. The war always comes home. Your fate is bound to mine, and mine to yours.
Make no mistake, we are now seeing white American citizens being murdered by law enforcement because we never truly addressed the way our law enforcement treats Black Americans. If we do not help each other, it’s only a matter of time before we all lose. Our liberation is tied together.

The Council President vote was messy. But we need to be clear on why this process did not need to unfold the way it did, and why we were met with a prolonged deadlock, repeated deflections into technicalities, and unwillingness to engage directly with the merits of leadership.
We appreciate @councilorkanal.bsky.social raising concerns with rhetoric from @mayorkwilson.bsky.social telling Portlanders to call 911 and ask for PSR anytime they see someone experiencing homelessness. This is not PSR's mission & a troubling scope creep that could undermine the program's success.
Californians are NOT going to vote for Gavin Newsom. They're telling you now, with YEARS to go before the election. Fair warning. Please support better candidates, there will be many to choose from.
It's happening, here. We need certainty on who is operating in our city limits, and if the feds won't show credible indicia of authority, we need to create a pathway towards verifying who these people are, as one more step forward.

The DHS did not respond to questions asking whether the men in the footage were sworn agents or impersonators.
