Somewhere in Ireland, probably listening to music, walking the dog or reading something. Or despairing, or daydreaming. On the route of the 19 bus.

This sheela na gig is on display in the Ulster Museum. It is thought to have originally belonged to the church of Errigal Keerogue, Tyrone.

A stone carving known as a sheela na gig. It is classed as a female exhibitionist figure. It has a pained expression with gritted teeth and round staring eyes, and pendulous breasts. The right arm extends forward over the vulva; and the left backwards and under the leg.

We've had the ability to watch, say, Counterstrike marathons, Street Fighter tournaments, or chess matches between computers since the 90s. Spectacles which, by their very definition, would be at a "higher standard" than human play. And nobody wants it. It's entirely meaningless. It has no appeal.

This is a photo of our home planet taken only a few hours ago! So what? We have photos of Earth taken from space every day. Ah, but *this* photo was taken by a spacecraft ON ITS WAY TO JUPITER.

From the source: "Mostly black space, most of Earth visible at the top right of the image. Part of a spacecraft visible on the left."

And now for some good news: "Visits to public libraries around Ireland have increased by two million in the last two years. New figures show that almost 16 million visits were made to Ireland's libraries in 2025, compared with nearly 14 million in 2023." www.rte.ie/news/ireland...

Ulster Orchestra in their civvies in the bus station today. We got Beethoven's 5th and then this shameless crowd pleaser. The conductor is the brilliant, and fun, Anna Handler. Great stuff, love it!

The RNLI is the closest you will ever get to actual Batman. When rescue is visibly, viscerally, obviously impossible; when the water is a smothering, thundering black wall and the wind is screaming straight from Hell; when you are absolutely going to die: someone’s hand pulls you out and you don’t.

There's a new issue of Viz on sale. And Gilbert Ratchet builds a squad of remote-controlled animatronic vegetable cheerleaders to praise Elon Musk and laugh at his jokes, but it all goes wrong.

Gilbert accidentally makes his animatronic vegetable cheerleaders hold up their letter signs in the wrong order so that they spell out the words "YOU PATHETIC NEEDY CUNT", to the dismay of Elon Musk.

Once told a racist moaning there were no white people on the train a) it's not like white ppl are stranded on the platform b) if POC weren't here, there'd be just you on train b) without demand or ticket sales, there'd be reduced service, and it'd take you longer to travel and cost more d) twat

The French made a short film about what could happen after all immigrants would follow the ‘white, angry old man’s’ advice to go back where they came from.

See that small bright object in the middle right of this image? That's the small icy moon Mimas. Floating in space against a backdrop of giant Saturn, the planet crossed by shadows from its rings.

A black swath of shadow crosses the scene from top left to bottom right. The background is various shades of blue and grey. A small, illuminated crescent is at upper right. The lower portion of the image is lighter grey/brown.
