I think the millennial fear of damaging someone’s employability via metrics has made reviewing anything honestly extremely difficult; similar to how folks in LA couch their language we cannot give negative feedback in case it is used against them (and sometimes us)

I think Vaesen leaving out the Sami ppl is a mistake. I get they wanted to avoid the real world politics of it and they are clear that their Mythic north isn't the historical Sweden... But I think these folklore stories stripped of colonial politics are missing an axis of meaning.

Cozy is comforting, feel-good, unchallenging, relaxing, a respite. Any of those words work. If the word you reach for is 'ethical', we get a statement that positions clean and unchallenging as good. Which creates a bit of an arms race.

Ethical art is art that treats everyone involved in the process (from materials to production to creative labor) fairly and with respect—not art that adheres to a specific set of content guidelines. Don't confuse genre trappings or marketing buzzwords with the real obligations we have to each other.
