Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

Ironically, Lodoss War and the Japanese Replays actually *did* partially inspire Friends at the Table. Not only with some tonal stuff in Hieron, but before I'd ever heard the first wave of AP podcast, I'd become fascinated with RoLW and begun to read english language Actual Play forum threads.

If there was at least one series I hoped would be represented in this Ultraman x Digimon Collab, it was Ultraman Tiga. I remember researching the background of the series while working on that post exploring Light and Evolution from it and Lain. It was nice learning about it.

I continue to document this odd moment of my existence. MOST people ask about the Japanese replay tradition & Records of Lodoss War because of genuine curiosity. I explain scope (I’m telling the history of circulation of audio/visual recordings online) & it’s all good. Others are trying a gotcha.

Replays & other practices of documented play (to use @shellyjones.bsky.social term) are important in their own right, as part of the wide ecosystem of ways that roleplaying games have been used & adapted into various works of art for centuries. But there isn’t a DIRECT line from them to modern AP.
