I will never stop being stunned at the number of people who treat their vote as a precious little piece of performance art. Yes, this would be better than voting for Rogers. It would, however, be worse than behaving like a responsible and decent adult who understands what voting is meant to do.

I voted in a Republican primary one time because it was the de facto governor’s race in Alabama. I have otherwise never failed to vote for a Democrat if one was on the ballot.

There used to be a huge amusement park and beach at the end of this street, 3 blocks away. It had a ferry to San Francisco and was served by the Southern Pacific railway. The Coney Island of the West. Now it's a soulless generic strip mall. God bless California.
