she/they. i use this account to follow all my favourite comic creators lol. (and I also repost current issues bc the world is not doing great. trans rights are human rights)

insert one of my favourite tweets of all time. the whole “protector” thing men keep imagining they are/want to become is based on a male fantasy created for their ego and approval of other men. women are just the tools they use for that— what we ACTUALLY want is, quite famously, always ignored.

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

you will encounter more opportunities in life to change the batteries on a smoke alarm than you will to run into a burning building and no one gives a shit you changed those batteries but it is still very important and why are you waiting on a burning building, know what i’m saying, it’s a metaphor

Since hearing about the #Tapas news earlier, and realising that it might mean we get more #webcomics hosted on their own individual sites again, I would like to introduce fellow webcomic readers to using RSS feeds as an easy way to keep track of all the comics you love! Thread below:

BROKE: haha that stupid studio fired a bunch of their employees and now they have to hire them all back WOKE: boy i sure hope this whole thing wasn't a long-term cost-cutting measure to offer lower salaries for the same jobs that they can now call "entry level positions"

'The fact that acts that marginalize trans people are not typically described as being “divisive” implies that there is a presumed and unspoken “one-ness” that exists in people’s minds that implicitly precludes trans people.'

Screenshot from Julia Serano's excellent essay linked in the quoted post below, with the following passage highlighted:
When trans people critique trans-exclusion within our own communities and coalitions, we are often called “divisive” for doing so. In contrast, I have never once heard anyone use the word “divisive” to describe cis people who promote or tacitly support trans-exclusion (in this case, Talarico, Turek, et al.). The fact that acts that marginalize trans people are not typically described as being “divisive” implies that there is a presumed and unspoken “one-ness” that exists in people’s minds that implicitly precludes trans people.

NEW ESSAY on last week's deluge of Dems embracing anti-trans positions. let's stop fixating on trans ppl & instead recognize that Dems have a cisgender problem. pls share! Medium (friend link): juliaserano.medium.com/on-democrats... & Substack (no paywall): juliaserano.substack.com/p/on-democra...

i'll be honest, now that the goat has bitten me .... i'm starting to think the wolf has a point. maybe we should just kill and eat the goat. after all, the goat was literally mean to me! and it's piled high with sin, so it couldn'tve have ever been a good person. must be ethical to eat it

so my village has been having a lot of issues. rather than deal with any of them, i grabbed a goat and had all the villagers pile their blame and hate onto the goat. while we were getting ready to drive it into the woods (and absolve ourselves) the goat BIT ME????? RUDE?!?

I have never once dragged or piled on WS before, but this is an absolutely fucked-up take. rather than considering that a marginalized group may have a very different perspective & experiences than you, smear them all as a "cult" of sorts instead. that way you can dismiss their opinions en masse

ever since @eleanor.lockhart.contact pointed out to me that a lot of online trans discourse has the dynamics of a high-control group, I can't stop seeing it. "you can only trust your brothers and sisters in the group" is a tried-and-true social control mechanism

Musk targets trans people for many reasons. Because he thinks it works. Because he thinks it enrages Republicans and depresses everyone else. Because he wants to torture his own child. Because he wants the message to be that the only safe political move is to join in the torture of his own child.

Elon Musk Spends $100 Million on Anti-Trans Ads Targeting Dems in Midterm Races

Some of the candidates being targeted have already capitulated to the right on trans rights.
