One thing strikes me : while LLMs now seem to excel in maths, they have yet to produce any great book (despite having been trained on virtually everything available that was ever written, and having been used to produce text for several years now).

Film criticism aside, Emily Wilson's review of the Odyssey concerned me because it misrepresents Late Bronze Age history and reinforces an old Eurocentric pattern of dismissing the experiences--and reality--of ancient peoples other than the Greeks.

In last year’s Nation League semi final, France was losing 0-4 (against Spain…) and it ended up 4-5. So it might not be fully over, but more importantly it is unfortunately not the first time this happens with this team.

This summer, we kept the lights on all night, every night, at five soccer fields across New York City.

This was the scene at Calvert Vaux Park in Gravesend, Brooklyn Tuesday night.

Reading this, it seems to me that the ADA leadership should go. But it is unfortunately very typical of the many institutions that collaborate instead of defending their values.

The American Diabetes Association appears not to have learned their lesson the first time around (below). Now they've blocked publication of an editorial about this event that was slated for publication in the same journal, Diabetes Care, this week. But here it is. You know what to do.

To be honest, as far as I can see, many people in academia are acting as if nothing has changed, or as if they will quickly recover 'after the midterms'. For instance, I have seen many people (students, profs) declining positions in Canada to go to the US.
