This couple came legally. They applied for asylum before their visas expired, wanting to do it all by the books. After six months, they applied for work permits to stay afloat, passing background checks. They worked legally and paid taxes while government delay dragged on. Then ICE came for them.

I was looking at the status of Lyme disease vaccines and found out there is a vaccine that might be effective but the downside is it’s mRNA based so America will never allow it.

The fact that the stupidest person in history is now dictator makes sense when you remember Americans were livid that their burrito taxis were too expensive for a whole year.

My point here is not that Trump's America is a good actor - it really isn't. My point here is that a lot of folks have a silly idea of what a 'World without the United States' would look like and they are not prepared for the reality nor are they preparing for the reality.

The problem is that as we're seeing with the Strait of Hormuz, "the USA forfeits its global ambitions" does not lead to a new age of peace and sunshine, but to global recession and instability. The Strait of Hormuz is not the only load-bearing instance of US power backstopping modern economies.

I also do have to laugh a little about how shitlib has no definition nowadays beyond “someone I have personally and instantly deemed inadequately left based on vibes and a couple social media posts” At some point I’ve seen pretty much everybody semi-popular on this website deemed a shitlib
Michael Flynn got paid by the Russian government to do anti-American propaganda, got paid by the Turkish government to conspire to break US laws, and now got paid by the US government for helping cover up a hostile anti-American foreign intelligence operation, ensuring perpetrators got away with it.
