“ICE agents were caught on video pulling one teen from the car and punching him repeatedly in the face while he lay on the ground. The other teen, Luis Ochoa, said he informed the ICE agents he was a citizen but was told, ‘I don’t give a damn.… Your parents can’t help you now.’”

“Two U.S. citizen teenagers who were on their way to file enlistment papers to join the Marines were violently attacked by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, who reportedly detained them for nearly eight hours before letting them go.” newrepublic.com/post/215393/...

This sort of endlessly transitive bigotry - where someone becomes a transphobe for merely disagreeing that you should seek to defeat Democrats who are bad on trans issues - is really corrosive to any kind of discourse or understanding. This is a question about electoral politics.

I don’t want to call anyone out specifically, but a prominent trans journalist I respect a lot has DMed me to say I should delete this and “clearly have issues with trans people” for saying it. Folks that is a very serious accusation and I wish it was made with more care on this site.

I'll confess I'm shocked by this: seeing a respected progressive voice openly argue that it's better to defeat Democrats who have been flaky on trans rights than to secure Democratic control of the US Senate and US House. Unbelievably foolish, short-sighted, self-sabotaging nonsense.

The Guide To Anti-Trans Democrats In The 2026 Elections, By State www.erininthemorning... #transgender #trans #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA

The fixation on whether we'll singularity before alignment and the robots will kill us is missing the trees for the forest. AI companies have already disseminated socially destabilizing technology, and we (Americans) handed the power to regulate them to Donald Trump. Happy Friday!

Killer Robots Aren't The Threat. We Are.

Tech execs made a devil’s bargain with a dim, amoral, vain man, and handed him the Superintelligent, Amoral, Sycophantic Robot Conundrum. We need to solve that problem before we get to “alignment.”

Shanah Tovah, New York! Wishing all Jewish New Yorkers celebrating a sweet, joyful and meaningful Rosh Hashanah. Here’s to a new year filled with health, happiness and blessings (and yes, even another Knicks championship).

This begs several questions: 1. Where is Microsoft’s capex going? 2. Why has it been saying it’s added a GW of capacity a quarter? 3. As one of NVIDIA’s largest customers: where are the GPUs Microsoft is buying going? Because it clearly isn’t into a data center.

Holy shit. Bloomberg just verified one of my biggest scoops - that Microsoft only has 2gw of operational capacity. I had it at 1.993GW in prep for the story that @aishadown.bsky.social and I did for the guardian. Vindication! www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Brody Ford @BrodyFord
Lot of speculation out there about how many GPUs are actually deployed.
Today, Microsoft has about 2GW of Al-specific capacity live. around 17% of the total fleet.
Only about 2 gigawatts of the company's current 12-gigawatt capacity is centered on Al-specific chips, the people said. This is expected to grow to about a third of the 38 gigawatts Microsoft plans to have online in 2032, they said.

Get in, folks: a new Russian disinfo campaign is targeting the midterms, specifically Democrats, in what seems to be the first attempt by the Kremlin-backed op to meddle in this year’s U.S. elections. They're faking celebrity videos attacking Dems and are...very stupid. www.ms.now/news/russia-...

A Russian disinformation campaign is doctoring celebrity videos to meddle in the midterms

The Kremlin-backed operation, known as Matryoshka, has Hollywood actors telling voters to disavow the Democratic Party and vote Republican.

I am tired of people saying we can’t win in front of the Supreme Court. I’m annoyed by those who say my firm is too partisan to be effective. Today we won a huge redistricting fight before SCOTUS and a ballot access case before the Nebraska Supreme Court. The lesson: When we fight we win.

The Saudis calling us on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 begging us to bomb their own home-grown extremist opposition for them is so wild it would get thrown out of a writers room. It doesn’t leave any nuance for the audience it just slams them right in the face.
