good morning fellow skeeters

People abroad don't understand the level of interference Meta & bots had in these elections. 5 days before the election a far-right politician posted a fake news video that got 157 MILLION views on Instagram in 24hs. For reference, GTA 6's reveal trailer got 90 million views on YouTube in 24hs.

I will not forget that Zuckerberg and Facebook shut down the accounts of the most popular presidential candidate in one of the largest democracies in the world, and he was elected anyway

Meta Employees Denounce Interference in Brazilian Elections Statement posted 8 hours ago. "This is the first time to our knowledge that favours made to politicians such as the Bolsonaros have been programmatically made user-facing to such an obvious and biased extent.”

Meta staff are holding the Big Tech company’s leadership accountable for decisions they say could compromise the credibility of the democratic process.

So in a huge surprise to absolutely no one, it turns out that NIH director Jay Bhattacharya's new journal based on the premise of letting his friends and only his friends publish essentially whatever they want is full of crackpot nonsense from retired cranks.

Are air quality‒health effect claims a statistical analysis fluke?

There are literally thousands of epidemiology (observational) studies in the literature claiming that air quality causes adverse health effects, including mortality. There are three profound examples ...

These people have embraced nothing but sheer degeneracy at this point. Every single one of them lacks even the most basic moral characteristics required for participation in public life. A movement filled with nothing but the most gutter cretins.

JD Vance: "Now the media and the Democrats in the state of Ohio are obsessed because Vivek Ramaswamy had the audacity to run a TV commercial which calls it out like it is and call Amy Acton a liar"

in a way it also shows how human-like intelligence is a bait and switch game. “submarines don’t need to swim like fish” and “fish can swim without ____, subs should too” get trotted out depending on what is most rhetorically convenient

Elon insisting on relying on cameras only for FSD was one of the dumbest ideas Elon has ever had, which is saying *a lot* "Humans can drive with only sight!" yeah, and we low key really suck at it

I've seen misrepresentations of our findings. We're not blaming Labour for the state of public services or claiming extra funding has had no effect. Rather, we find that public services were in such a mess in 2024 that, despite money and reforms, services won't have recovered to 2019 levels by 2029

NEW: Starmer's public service inheritance was bleak. His govt made some progress improving services. But also launched a messy set of reforms Burnham has set out a positive vision but has a mountain to climb to deliver all his promises 🧵 www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/publication/...

It really sucks that we will have to do it the hard way because no one is fine with the trade offs, but ultimately yes, the fact Europe isn't ready for war now doesn't mean it won't change quickly if the war starts. Russia itself had to adapt and learn drone warfare "on the fly"; others also can.

Duncan Weldon@duncanweldon.bsky.social · last wk.

Something which I think gets seriously underplayed in all the ‘are we ready for war?’ stuff: a modern economy can adapt to the pressures and needs of war very quickly. And what seemed impossible suddenly becomes necessary and is done.

What an arc. Before the Czech Communists said goodbye to the national parliament, they've voted for Mr Babiš's flat income tax proposal. PfE is mainly in the upper-right quadrant [1st chart], the KSČM is in the upper-left corner [2nd chart]. They quit The Left since the last EP elex.

The Czech Communists’ lone MEP Kateřina Konečná has joined Patriots for Europe. She says her views have not changed. I am sure that is true. The conservative left politics of sections of the Czech left substantially overlap with those of the radical right. www.idnes.cz/zpravy/domac...
