I was on a visit in Southern Virginia and stopped at a nearby winery in a county that went 2-1 for Trump in 2024 and 2-1 Winsome Sears for Virginia Gov…. I was chatting with staff and a local came up to remind one of them about the anti data center meeting coming up Indeed this has legs

I’ve been screening our documentary with organizing communities in the South. So far, the organizers mention data centers first at every single event. From racial justice orgs to old school activists who don’t usually think about tech policy. This has legs.

Getting old sucks. Chating with friends about their post age 50 labor market experience. A general feeling that once they were laid off finding another steady gig was not in the cards. Always a joy to ponder the second the risks you face as you move into the second half of your professional life.

Just so everyone knows, this is a tried-and-true mainstream media tactic. For progressives/leftist candidates, every election is a “crucial test” and any loss would serve as proof to the media that the latest left-side moment is at its end. Any win, though, just means it’s time to find a new test.
