@unityhealthto.bsky.social , emerg 4 times last week, then when attempting to admit myself for my EMERGENT #RamsayHuntSyndrome, I was denied a bed not once, but TWICE because "it could not accommodate my Service Dog in Training". How is a HOSPITAL not accessible to patients with working dogs?

Sometimes peace isn’t found by escaping life… it’s found beneath the trees, where the only things asking for your attention are birdsong, rustling leaves, and the path ahead. Have a peaceful Sunday!

This new paper nicely encapsulates the issues between the neurodiversity movement and the medical model of autism.

New paper: The neurodiversity movement vs. the medical of autism: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/... Forced into 9 citations; brief on overlaps & distinctions. As background, newly 'published' relevant pre-dissertation chapter (2016) that has inspired 4-5 papers, w/ over 50 pages of references:

A critique of “consensus” in autism research—how inclusion becomes performance, power remains untouched, and cure rhetoric persists. Yet amid it all, autistic-led scholarship rises—quiet, defiant, building truth brick by brick open.substack.com/pub/autside/...

Consensus Without Consent: The Myth of Democracy in Autism Research

On the illusion of democracy in autism research—and the quiet, stubborn work of autistic scholars reclaiming the right to define our own existence.

Steve Silberman is so pissed about this Tylenol bullshit that he's screaming from the afterlife he didn't even believe in. Increased rates of autism are due to testing, a broadened definition, and greater awareness. It's not vaccines. It's not Tylenol. It's like his work never happened.

We conclude that, because of a lack of appropriate conceptualization of what constitutes "problem behavior" and poorly validated measures, we know very little about how interventions might support autistic children who engage in behavior that could be harmful to themselves or others. 4/4
