When The Scenic Route Is Worth It
Fast travel isn't the worst feature to include, but Mafia III is a great example of why it can be worth forcing players to spend time traveling.

Wallace@exalclaw.com · 3w agoThe more I think about it the more it seems Mafia III is a rebuke against fast travel. Ive got no clue if it’s in the game at all based on where Im at, and nothing has indicated it’ll make an appearance, but I hope it doesn’t!
Just took the 2 from Midtown to FiDi on a Friday during rush hour with my mom who has never been in a city bigger than Chicago, and other than a little panic around the eyes, she did great
Terrified that the entirety of Fire Emblem I've played so far has secretly been nestled within one of twelve-hundred menus you have to navigate, and at some point I'm going to press B and reveal a higher layer of menu gameplay I have not yet touched, complete with its own new menus and sub-menus

When I was 11 I (apparently) insisted it was pronounced "Fire Enblem" and every time a new one has come out in the intervening 23 years my dad calls me to ask if I'm excited to play the new "Enblem"
