it seems that the QI community has already decided on the new rules: 1) buy the most expensive model of ChatGPT 2) feed it your favorite open research question / conjecture 3) have it find the solution for you and possibly even write the paper 4) post the result to the arXiv with your name on it

APS will charge 1,750$ for authors to publish in APS Open Science (a recently introduced journal expected to have a lower impact than PRA) It's hard to imagine who would be willing to pay so much to publish in such a lower-impact journal, especially as free alternatives exist shorturl.at/LRyF2

I honestly just sincerely hope that we will not enter a (short-lived) era where all papers are somewhat equal. More equal than they were already before AI. An enormous number of papers now have similar looking AI generated figures, AI generated text, squared-boxed AI generated equations...

We're at a strange, specific moment. Takes range from "publications are dead by fall" to "I tried LLMs in November, they were bad." If you have an LLM-assisted paper, take full responsibility as usual. Do everything: arXiv, GitHub, website, and integrate with databases if appropriate.

It is super interesting how AI is obviously shaping the way (quantum) physics papers are written. To me, some words like "setting" or "sector" are just populating the literature in a way that was not really there a couple of years ago.
