Saying this as a total leftie, progressives who ideologically cling to ideas they can't back up are just as obnoxious as conservatives who do the same. There are science-deniers on both sides. The difference is that one side means well and the other side means harm.

This is still one of the coolest things my brain has done that I wasn't trying to learn. Predatory monetization tactics are now treated as negative emotional manipulation, meaning they're such an absolute deal breaker that they completely *reset* any value I had once perceived from the experience.

OW was the title that broke my FOMO response. They switched to cash-shop exclusives so aggressively in the OW2 era that my brain recalibrated FOMO to oppositional defiance. I can't have most new content? Then I don't care about *any* of it, including my existing collection and the game itself.

Fun fact: My knees can't handle flat terrain. Walking, even standing still, is agonizing even over short periods. I'd do anything for a wheelchair. And yet I can walk a hillside hiking trail with uneven ground, big rocks, and fallen trees all damn day with no pain. Guess how many people believe me.

As much as radicals get criticized for being "unrealistic," demanding entire demographics facing literal genocide always maintain mild rhetoric and actions is an absolutely delusional level of conformity to expect. I don't think that gets said enough.

What's the polite way to stop Fediverse people from evangelizing at me at every opportunity? istg they deserve the pushy stereotype way more than vegans ever did.

99% of the time, when someone accuses you of selective outrage, it’s a way of politically demobilizing you and shutting you up “Why are you angry about data centers instead of fast fashion” isn’t about making you care about fast fashion. It’s about shutting you up about data centers And visa versa

part of why I don't like AI is bc it's so often the antithesis of caring for the little things, the appreciation of the mundane, of seeing beauty where others haven't yet been able to, and seeking genuine fundamental understanding all in the name of "get product faster" I find it so disheartening

This seems like a reasonable use of one's 4th amendment rights. Unless he was under court order, there's nothing unlawful about deleting data. Duress passwords like this should be the default.

“This is thought to be the first known case in the United States where federal prosecutors have charged someone for the alleged destruction of data using a ‘duress’ password built into a phone’s software”

NSFW means "Not Safe For Work," not exclusively sexual content. Stuff where a customer seeing it on my screen could get me fired. I also just don't want to see it. I can't filter everything, ie: "Drone" also means UAVs. I did my part and disabled NSFW. Please do your part and mark your content.
