Holiday in the climate emergency. No that’s not AI or edited, just a snapshot I just took with my phone on Lacanau beach in France. What future will this boy grow up in? It is in our hands, but time is running out.

Elon Musk's xAI has installed more than double the number of gas turbines than it has publicly acknowledged to power its Colossus 2 data center project, without federal permits, and the pollution is hitting predominantly Black neighborhoods the hardest reut.rs/4bIghEm

🚨 HEADS UP: If you haven't submitted a comment on the OMB proposal yet, there's still time - but it's running out! There are only 1 days left to push back against Russell Vought's attempt to give political appointees unprecedented control over federal research funding. Take Action: zurl.co/eoQwY

Graphic from Stand Up for Science urging action on a federal funding proposal. Large text reads: "1 Days Left" and "Help Us Stop Vought From Destroying American Science." A portrait of Russell Vought appears beside the U.S. Capitol. A banner along the bottom reads: "Submit a comment on the OMB proposal | Link in bio to take action." The Stand Up for Science logo appears in the top left.

Russell Vought’s OMB Grant Proposal takes the formerly expert informed, democratic grant award process and turns it into an authoritative process based on political ideology. It will destroy science in America as we know it. Take action here: zurl.co/ydchb Article: zurl.co/Juc68

NYC, this is a reminder that our Olympic — and intermediate — sized outdoor pools will stay open until 8:30 PM. That's a 1/2 hour longer than prior heat wave extensions and 1.5 hours longer than normal operating days. Stay cool. Stay informed. Together, we will get through this historic heat wave.

I've gone ahead and posted my comment on the OMB rule as an example of a hyper-focused comment that looks at one portion of the OMB rule. Here, I've tackled a part of the Rule I know a lot about (international research and national security) and cross-walked with a project I've worked on a lot.

What a Focused OMB Rule Comment Could Look Like — Stand Up for Science Foundation

Cole Donovan, Director of Policy at the SUFS Foundation, breaks down how OMB’s grant rule will undermine U.S. research, weaken international collaboration, and threaten American scientific leadership.

I just spent three days on the hill being told that even Republican members in Congress with sick children would not stand up for the science that would save their children’s lives and yours. So no, these people are not your friend. They are not even a friend of their own blood.

The action taken by Steven Kahn, MBChB, Aaron Kelly, PhD, Desmond Schatz, MD, Justin Ryder, PhD, & Irl Hirsch, MD at the #ADA Annual Meeting, was EXACTLY PERFECT. They used their position to do something reasonable & got an outsized reaction. NOW EVERYONE WALK OUT OF THE MEETING.

1/If you read NPR’s article, the reporter failed to call anyone who is an expert on administrative law—I don’t know, someone who wrote a whole article on this exact topic, called Infrostructure, which is pinned to this page—and I would note be happy to note the rule’s many, many failings.

Striking to me how little reporting there is on this rule proposal, which is maybe the biggest change to American governance in almost a century. And this reporting is … weak. www.npr.org/2026/06/03/n...
