Kinda feel as though there's a lot of subjects coming up today that tapdance on raw nerves for me. I have greater empathy for animals because they generally don't understand why they're suffering, especially when it's happening at the hands of humans.

Getting real sick of slop midwives pleading for a 'respectful discussion' of AI as relates to the arts. Your use of AI to 'make art' is not respectful. It benefits from stolen art, destroys the planet, and does not make you an artist any more than someone driving 26.2 miles is a marathoner.
It is your responsibility to assemble the thoughts that compose who you are in the way that most fits who you choose to be. But to suggest that "you are not your mind" is to separate oneself from what ultimately makes up the self. Where the fuck is the wisdom in that?

Your thoughts ARE you, but that doesn't make them the whole, because you can have conflicting thoughts at once. A collection of thought is what makes up a consciousness.

"Thought cannot exist without consciousness, but consciousness does not need thought"? What the fuck is this? "I exist" is consciousness and it is fundamentally thought.

Learned a new word today, for once one that I actively went looking for - 'psithurism' - a term for the sound of foliage moving in the wind. ...frustratingly, I don't know if I should *use* this word knowing I had to go looking for it to know it even existed.
Upon reflection, I suppose I could have been marginally more understanding by not saying that *they* were the actual clown in the situation...but I've kind of run out of patience for people being asshats for no better reason than willful ignorance.

I never believed in hypnosis until the day I spent 6 hours semi-consciously scrolling in a kitten/puppy pic account.
I had to code and pronounce a time of death on a respiratory therapist colleague. There's a memorial plaque for her outside the emergency department to this day. I wrote and re-wrote my will. I will never forgive these ghouls trying to rewrite history and deny our experience.
