There seems to be an idea that advocates for safe bike infrastructure want to excuse and defend the right of reckless cyclists to ride recklessly. Absolutely not. We probably hate those guys more than you do. They are selfish, entitled, and endanger all of us.

Near the end of their career, someone I knew who’d worked for decades in sustainability told me “I wanted to save the world, but the world didn’t want to be saved.” I’ve heard similar laments from people near or after the end of their career working on the environment. I think about this a lot. 🧵
