I like this notetaking example. it is a good case of how gender works. Notetaking has never been about producing a transcript. It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them

Further interesting scenario is human recollection / notes (taken by habit by a person) conflict with AI summary

Throwaway thought, but it’s wildly unhelpful to use AI as a catch all for everything from transformer-based sequence models to agentic coding assistants to LLM generated docs. I suspect sentiment varies a ton across those and lumping them together doesn’t make for a productive conversation

I worked at a distillery most of grad school. We gave a tour talking about the history of bourbon. One of the biggest issues with bootleggers making alcohol illegally was that they’d put crazy stuff like shoe shine in their unregulated whisky. Regulations allow you to make informed choices!
