If you alter the way you write, these motherfuckers have won. Change nothing. Be yourself. Em Dash it up. Go to town. Have an em dash dance party. Use any POV you want. Write as you have always written. (Unless, you know, you want to change style for reasons of levelling-up, or whatever).

Authors and journalists are doing more first-person (hello 2010s blogging) and embracing "mistakes" in writing to prove they're not chatbots. There's even an “anti-Grammarly" app that leaves in typos and signs off "sent from my iPhone" to create more authenticity: www.wired.com/story/more-t...

Some friends of ours adopted a cat, but the shelter did a bad job testing him and he has FeLV. Sunny is a very sweet boy, but they can’t keep him because they have another cat. Is anyone in New England looking to adopt a cat that would be solo, or their other cats have FeLV?

Right now anyone can learn to write or create art. The price of admission is incredibly, super-duper low. Don't have a computer? You can write or draw on paper. Yes, it takes time to learn how to tell good stories or create compelling art, but there is no gatekeeper. 3/

No matter how much I love the look and feel of any specific fountain pen, if it doesn’t have a stub nib, I just will not ever enjoy writing with it. A fude or broad nib isn’t the same. A stub forces me to hold the pen in a way that is comfier and less painful for my tendon issues.

I restarted with traditional art in 2022 when all the AI people really began with the "all artists will be replaced by machines!" The art supply landscape has been flooded by sponsored brands, making selection difficult. So, from beginner to beginner, here is a bare bones getting started list:

Latest fun game? You can pay a fortune for your Medicare Plan D (pharma) or. . . nothing, if you don't need anything. But you must get into Plan D the moment you are eligible, or it goes up each month eventually. + higher Rx. My no-pay gets me 40% off a new med. Med is still $$$ a month. 🤨

every once in a while a nice author friend from Canada reaches a point where they have to ask their nice author friend in the US why their readers are trying to shove dollar bills up their noses, and I have to give them The Most Depressing Talk Ever

The portal opens tomorrow… are you ready? We want horror stories up to 6,000 words, including flash. Originals and reprints. We pay $0.08 per word. Simultaneous submissions are accepted so long as you keep us informed. More details on our website (below).

I hate that almost all of the coding camps for kids include learning to use LLMs now.(I’m venting, not looking for help. I promise you, I’ve looked at everything available in my area.) (Yes, they could learn at home with books, but we want them to meet other kids in their new neighborhood.)

For newcomers: yes the #InverteFest artbook accepts fictional invertebrates - crab spaceship, mecha squid, isopod gijinka, joltik crochet, starfish bard from your DnD campaign, and so on. Submission link:

Hey folks -- Signal Boost time for this week's #TheFullLid. If you have a human-made creative project to promote, leave the details in a reply. Include the title and a link please, so folks can find it. For pre-launch crowdfunders let us know about 2 weeks in advance.

So I did manage to doodle a little, and I have clearly spent too much time drawing robots and doll clothes sewing patterns this year. My skill at drawing actual humans is evaporating. POOF gone. 😮‍💨

I tried to draw tonight, but I got distracted trying to find an affordable flex nib fountain pen that wasn’t from a brand run by horrible people. So no sketches and no new fountain pen. Gonna have to look more when it’s not the middle of the night.
