Rock concerts should have a special area for the people who just want to talk through the entire show

inspired by a post I saw on here and have since lost, I've started reading "AI companies" as "cigarette manufacturers," so something like this becomes "maker of Newports backs bill to fund smoking literacy in schools"
the biggest tech companies in the world are endorsing a new bill that would shove AI onto kids in school www.404media.co/literacy-in-...
1/ The government said “antifa” posed a terrorism-level threat in the Texas Prairieland trial. But newly obtained FBI records tell a very different story. @adamfederman.bsky.social reports with @typeinvestigations.org and In These Times:

FOIA records obtained by Type Investigations and In These Times raise questions about evidence presented in Prairieland case.

It’s weird how the “AI is an error-ridden cheating machine that sometimes tries to talk people into suicide articles” seem to outnumber the “aren’t we all having fun with AI ones.”
"Britannica’s lawsuit said that OpenAI unlawfully copied nearly 100,000 of its articles... The complaint said that ChatGPT produces “near-verbatim” copies of Britannica’s encyclopedia entries, dictionary definitions and other content, diverting users who would otherwise visit its websites."
me, when The Secret Agent walked away with zero #Oscars:
Erika Hilton, incumbent Brazilian MP, jokingly called for a congressional inquiry into the Oscar after the Brazilian movie "Secret Agent" lost. She also tagged the Federal Police, saying it was a robbery.

I would remiss if I did not adequately amplify @cherylrofer.bsky.social's concise, clear, and unassailable summary of why one of the Trump administration's main rationales for its illegal war is bullshit.
Iran Does Not Have Nuclear Weapons - Lawyers, Guns & Money
It’s time to say it again: It’s highly doubtful that the Iranians were pursuing a nuclear weapon. And they certainly don’t have any. Donald Trump says that (one of the purposes/ the purpose) of his at...

As the Kurds who had depended on US support, were betrayed and massacred in their thousands in the 70s, Kissinger famously dismissed the deaths: "covert action should not be confused with missionary work."
As the US moots using Kurdish proxies to destabilize Iran, Trump had better hope that Masoud Barzani doesn't recall these words from Mustafa Barzani in the seventies (or their Syrian counterparts right now for that matter):
…🤔 Willem Dafoe implies the existence of Willem Dafiend which also implieshis inverse existence of Willem Dafriend except when that’s Willem Dafied, Willem Dafouled, and Willem Daflowered by the mutant Willem Diefledermaus who takes Willem Daflight and is the only one allowed to Willem Daflourish.
These are “low enrollment” majors but the classes are regularly at capacity. They changed the funding structure a few years ago here, switching the allocation from course enrollments to majors then blamed these departments for a structural, top-down change. This is entirely a political choice.

Important thread and article by Greg Sargent about ICE and CBP stockpiling military-style weaponry. They claim they‘re targeting the “worst of the worst” undocumented immigrants, but it looks more and more like the target is any American who refuses to submit to the regime.
Appalling: ICE and CBP contracted for $144 million in weaponry and accessories in Trump's first year, per data obtained by Sen Adam Schiff. For ICE it's a fourfold increase, much of it for military-style weapons. A heavily armed secret police force. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/2069...

I wrote a short article for @myhnn.bsky.social analyzing the hemispheric histories behind Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime shown. I show that hemispheric discourses have long been used to combat the politics of empire. Link below! www.hnn.us/article/the-...
The Bad Bunny Doctrine
The Superbowl LX halftime show tapped into a 200-year old tradition of elevating hemisphere over nation in the struggle against imperial rule.

“You have to use AI to save time and meet your production metrics” “But it has a high error rate; why would I use something that unreliable?” “You have to check it’s work” “Okay but that eats up all the time I ‘saved’” “Use it anyway”
Cautionary tale: I asked Gemini to transcribe a 1-page PDF from The Morning Post from the early 1800s. I was interested in testing its accuracy. It hallucinated a full transcription of book review that doesn't exist and then invented false citations when I asked where the review was from. #AI

A MAGA freak in Texas murdered his own daughter in cold blood after they had an argument about Trump. A grand jury in the Dallas area then *declined to indict him*, and he has not yet faced charges. Seems like many Texans believe a man has the right to kill his own child for disobedience.
