Zoonotic magical girl. Highly invasive. Traditional artist. Angry American.

I say this, by the way, as someone who would *kill* to have AOC as president. There's no one I would sooner vote for, no candidate I would prefer more. And who knows, history is freaky, maybe she could win! But everyone is going to be so goddamn weird about it.

... about highly intelligent, articulate, opinionated beautiful women of color who are single & have no children! It is the bullseye, the sum of all the weird fucked up repressed anxieties, resentments, envies, & desires deep in the American id. A Pandora's box of our dysfunctions.

America is simply weird & fucked up about women. Even more weird & fucked up about beautiful women. Even more weird & fucked up about beautiful women of color. Even more weird & fucked up about highly intelligent, articulate, opinionated beautiful women of color. The weirdest & fucked upest ...

And let me just emphasize in the strongest terms that, while I am definitely talking about Republicans, I am even more definitely not *just* talking about Republicans. EVERYBODY will be weird about it in one way or another. Weird & dark & fucked up. It will be a national fever, a derangement.

I think what we're seeing around the internet right now, vis a vis AOC & her ex-boyfriend & her eggs, is just a tiny, tiny, tiny sliver of the absolute madness that will break out if she runs for president. No matter how f'ing weird you think people will be about it, they will be much, much weirder.

A new study shows that Medicare for All would save over 114,000 lives and over $1 trillion every year. The new research out of Yale shows that reductions in administrative overhead, lower pharmaceutical prices, less fraudulent billing, and fewer emergency care trips would lead to huge savings. /1

Yale Study: Medicare for All Would Save Over 114,000 Lives and $1 Trillion a Year | Common Dreams

"Do not tell me we cannot afford Medicare for All," the senator said. "What we cannot afford is a broken healthcare system based on greed."

While I am relieved that she is safe, the habitual dishonesty and dangerous and unjustified escalation seen in this video matches what we have seen from ICE agents across the country.

Video of an ICE agent pulling a gun on a wife and mother, who is a US citizen born and raised in the area, near Bailey's Crossroads in Northern Virginia yesterday. Chillingly, they claimed she “almost ran them over” until she told them she had video proving that was a lie.

I see stories of this, and I remember that all the poltical adds in 2024 from local Congressional Democrat candidates, up and down the east coast, were about “being tougher on immigration than the GOP.” I assure you, I won’t ever forget that.

This is whole story is horrifying, and as a journalist covering ICE flights, I was struck by this sentence: “We were shipped to Texas overnight from Los Angeles in horrible conditions that I won’t elaborate on in this letter.”

A growing number of sites and apps have introduced tools and policies to flag, label, and ban AI-generated content, in acknowledgement of users’ backlash against AI slop and related issues such as the impact of data centers’ construction.

The AI Slop Backlash Is Actually Having an Impact

Platforms are finally recognizing that people don’t want to consume AI slop. A growing number of sites and apps now have tools and policies to flag, label, and ban AI-generated content.

Perhaps the biggest example of how the United States government is a failed democracy is shown right now by how the people are very, vocally, opposed to data centers while our elected representatives are doing everything in their power to propagate them against our wills

If Dems take back the House and start investigating Trump (which they must do), then, on Day 1, legislate a way to rescind or override this ruling. They’re gonna have to play hardball. Pretend you’re Mitch McConnell, what would he do if Obama pulled this shit? Do that.

Domestic abuse and rape represent the rejection of camaraderie, love, principle, and human dignity in favor of brute domination of the weak by the strong, and in that sense it is the paradigm of the MAGA ethos.

EXCLUSIVE: Members of Trump’s political team asked Ohio Republicans last week not to wage a public pressure campaign against embattled GOP Rep. Max Miller, after they became increasingly convinced he wouldn’t end his reelection bid.
