The Atlantic is what "conservative intellectuals" think of as a more thoughtful version of National Review. It's actually just another example of how the Overton Window of media has shifted to the right.

I see stories of this, and I remember that all the poltical adds in 2024 from local Congressional Democrat candidates, up and down the east coast, were about “being tougher on immigration than the GOP.” I assure you, I won’t ever forget that.
This is whole story is horrifying, and as a journalist covering ICE flights, I was struck by this sentence: “We were shipped to Texas overnight from Los Angeles in horrible conditions that I won’t elaborate on in this letter.”
