Progressive wins by small margins: this is proof that the left doesn't have what it takes Progressive loses by small margins: this is proof that the left doesn't have what it takes

“Earnestness is cringe” is just the mirror image of “cynicism is savvy” and the matching partner to “lol nothing matters” which is the fertile ground for fascism to grow. Hope is cringe. Progress is cringe. Change is cringe. Getting together with other people and imagining something better? Cringe.

i also wonder if part of the backlash was that we've decided obvious earnestness is 'cringe' &, like, look at the world around you. do we like the alterative? getting back to a sane & just world will involve a lot more of things we dismiss as cringe now

i still see reactionaries say we need a “reckoning” over woke 1 and i truly don’t know what they mean at this point. the right is firmly in power and we get 2 articles a week bemoaning the excesses of wokeness. what else are you looking for?

finally reading the Atlantic piece on “Woke 1” and it’s interesting how even in their attempt to list the movement’s sins they struggle to identify anything significant

The established institutions of the meritocratic elite were swept over by the movement's force: Members of Congress were photographed taking a knee while wearing African-inspired kente cloth. Companies rolled out diversity, equity, and inclusion action plans and donated huge sums to Black Lives Matter and other racial-justice causes. Universities denounced themselves as complicit in systemic racism. Staffers at news outlets revolted against colleagues they deemed counterrevolutionary, and nonprofit leaders and corporate executives treated the books of the anti-racism gurus Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo as revelatory.

This is what we mean when we say we're living under fascism. You might not feel it in your own personal life every day. But you and all of us are vulnerable at any second to this kind of malicious exercise of fascist power. This isn't freedom.

This is insane: Trump's rage and humiliation over the Reflecting Pool now has the White House urging DOJ to undertake new prosecutions *even though the government itself has already determined the person in question is innocent.*

Why are there action scenes in movies? They don't move the movie along at all it just makes people uncomfortable. We could just skip to the after and show who's dead and stuff if we have to - get back to plot because exposition is the only thing that matters. Plot is king. Plot is god. Plot is all.

"Is Hasan Piker the Attorney General who Republicans confirmed despite him still withholding documents about Donald Trump's connections to Jeffrey Epstein? Because I oppose that." "No, he's a Twitch streamer who—" "I don't watch Twitch, but I have seen the birthday card Trump gave Epstein."

if i were a dem politician asked about hasan piker i would simply say “i will answer your question about the twitch streamer no one has heard of but first i would like to point out the president was best friends with the worlds most notorious child rapist and yall stopped asking him about that”

the only people actually “cancelled” have been the teachers targeted by libs of tiktok and tpusa. claudine gay. every trans kid trying to play an organized sport with their friends
