I missed that Rod Liddle had died. 30 years ago I spent 10 unhappy months working at the Today programme. He was assistant editor and shifts where he was in charge were much less awful than working for some of the other editors. I never heard him express some of the awful ideas he later published.
Trevor, darling, if you and other drivers are being fined in London then they are not "going about their lawful business", they are going about their business unlawfully. If you don't wish to obey London's traffic laws, there's an excellent train service from Canterbury.

And then there’s all the parking. OR a city can move A LOT MORE people in a lot less space, with A LOT LESS public money, emissions, pollution, noise etc. Choices. Simple.

It is mad that we have, somehow, allowed net zero - a policy common to all major parties under 5 years ago and supported by a majority of the public - to become a synoym for mad radicalism. It is doubly mad that we've allowed this to happen during the hottest summer on record.
