If "legitimate concerns" were considered to excuse illegitimate methods, then nobody from Just Stop Oil or Palestine Action would have been arrested. So we know it doesn't. In fact that phrase is only ever used in one context. Only in that context is uniformed mob intimidation "peaceful protest"

Everyone of our politicians who uttered the phrase "stop the boats" is culpable for this. You had a chance to humanise those who were trying to cross the channel to show empathy and sympathy. But you didn't.

Every conversation about bike lanes is like: "Car crashes kill a huge number of people every day, including pedestrians, cyclists, & car occupants. Good bike infrastructure has been shown to make everyone safer (& doesn't increase congestion)." "But sometimes cyclists break rules & hit people!"

Whilst there's no firm evidence to connect the Lewes and Wickford derailments, there are a lot of circumstantial factors that mean it wouldn't be unlikely for there to be a common cause. Do please pay close attention to that wording, though.
