Sometimes celebrities pass by and you just have to stop and stare. Gigi was just such a cat. Her human, Reagan, is the daughter of one of my first patients and for years calendars of Gigi dressed in high fashion raised funds for lung cancer research and everyone’s spirits.

An under-discussed consequence of generative AI: to prove *your* scientific text is human-authored and should be taken seriously, you'll have to show your credentials, which benefits people with privilege and harms people without it. Harvard gets a pass; U of Nairobi, maybe less often.

4. As Jevin West and I have been saying for several years now, because a seemingly credible message no longer implies a human sender, LLMs will push us toward more emphasis on reputation and status — and as such serve as an anti-egalitarian force in all aspects of society, science included.

In #medicine, snobbery to your colleagues just depends on your frame. As a student and resident in the ER, I came to think all PCPs were bumbling fools. Later as a PCP, I found myself giving back to the ER. Then I’d realize. We're the same team; we should communicate more, scoff less. #medsky
