I came to the sad conclusion that a self-funded billionaire is my best bet against corporate money influence in elections. A friend in the nonprofit housing sector has worked with Steyer for a long time and assured me that Steyer's stated values are the values he lives by.
Ostensibly, I switched to Steyer because he hedges less on CAHSR, but he might hedge less because he is given less slack. In fact, I probably switched because of leftist independent media. Ostensibly, they opposed Porter because they have better crystal balls, and knew she would be unpopular.

Another $500,000 from Chevron to the PAC that clearly states it supports Becerra. Losing count of how much money Chevron has spent to support Becerra. They keep ratcheting up because Steyer is gaining.
Is anyone in Sacramento still doing actual journalism any more? Follow up questions, pressing for explanations? Is Becerra really proposing to re route all the high speed rail built so far???

Hey folk earnestly explaining that campaigns cannot legally coordinate with SuperPACs and thus have no clue what is being done with the money spent by PG&E, Chevron, Uber, et al... let me introduce you to the concept of redboxing. Messaging directions from the candidate to the SuperPAC.
Huh. I just asked Tom Steyer the exact same question that got me tossed out of the Xavier Becerra town hall two weeks ago...and I got a substantive response. No security goons needed. "You come to the fastest warming county in the lower 48 states, do you have a climate plan?"
Same. Write it down so that we can read it.
