Yesterday, I joined hundreds of residents from Upper Merion and neighboring communities to stand together against the proposed 4.6 million-square-foot hyperscale data center campus adjacent to densely populated areas.

Kids fighting congenital heart disease — this is who suffers when HHS stops support for science. Local hospitals like CHOP and Penn rely on stable funding for lifesaving treatments. These billion dollar cuts hit families and researchers right here at home.

As budget negotiations continue today in Harrisburg, I’m urging Pennsylvanians to stay vigilant. Don’t be fooled by last-minute amendments or budget deals that are marketed as “data center reform” but fail to provide the protections our communities deserve.

It’s Juneteenth. On June 19, 1865, Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston Island & issued General Order No. 3. It announced that “all slaves are free.” This story of this one event was commemorated through the diaspora of Black Americans for more than 150 years before becoming a national holiday.
