I 100% have not changed a single goddamn thing about how I write here in the age of "AI." I write how I write. If the "AI" writes anything like how I write, it's because it stole from me. I'm gonna use any punctuation I like, and if it looks "AI"ish to you, you can go fuck yourself.

Authors and journalists are doing more first-person (hello 2010s blogging) and embracing "mistakes" in writing to prove they're not chatbots. There's even an “anti-Grammarly" app that leaves in typos and signs off "sent from my iPhone" to create more authenticity: www.wired.com/story/more-t...

I love this post. With research, as with writing itself, you can't separate the process from the end result. If you take shortcuts, you will never know what destination you might have arrived at had you taken the longer winding route- or what you might have seen and learned along the way.

If you ‘only use AI for research’ and by some miracle, get your facts right, your work still suffers! It’s the unexpected details found in research that bring your work to life. It’s rabbit holes & deep dives that uncover fascinating facts & texture. There’s loads you don’t know that you don’t know!

Calling Bonus Marchers “Red agitators” is part of long history of using Red Scare & McCarthyism to attack labor & racial justice organizing. Already left out of textbooks, anti-history ed bills & EOs ban teaching outside textbook. Read textbook critique by Ursula Wolfe-Rocca ⬇️

“Both the House bill & the new Senate bill define acceptable works of literature by referring to reading lists from Compass Classroom, a publisher for evangelical Christian homeschoolers. [The] list of Classics Every HS Should Read does not name a single Black, Latino, Asian or Indigenous author.”

As critic and journalist Ron Charles writes, the book banning legislation under consideration in Congress is dangerous and fundamentally flawed. More: https://roncharles.substack.com/p/the-book-banning-bill-that-wont-die Tell the Senate to reject censorship: https://action.ala.org/campaign/S4925/

The GOP is obsessed with erasing trans people, their voices, and their stories. This is a FOUR ALARM fire, with the now fourth book banning bill introduced in Congress this year. If you're fighting about HR 7616 and HR 2616 and the CHARLIE Act, you need to know S 4925 is happening, too.

🚨🚨🚨 Republicans in the Senate have drafted S. 4925, their companion to the House's HR 7616 bill. This nationwide book banning bill shows the GOP's priorities during the quiet summer season. S. 4925 is already in the HELP subcommittee. bookriot.com/senate-bill-...

Lovely review of THE BOOK OF JUPITER! "Deftly exploring interwoven themes of love and loyalty, secrecy and manipulation, guilt and grief, and blind faith and personal autonomy... a story of intense emotional depth... An engaging, haunting read."

Also, claiming this is because August is outside the school year is ridiculous. This hasn't been a problem in the past...and the reason Ottawa celebrates pride in August is to commemorate the We Demand rally in Ottawa in 1971- one of the most significant events in Canadian queer history.

After more than two decades of marching at Pride, at a time when queer and trans rights are under attack, the people calling the shots for the Ottawa Carlton school district are choosing to send this message to their students. Incredibly disappointing.

This is inexcusable. Abandoning queer and trans kids when they need them the most. The Ford government put the OCDSB under trusteeship and are calling the shots here. The school board is usually one of the biggest contingents in the Pride March. ottawacitizen.com/news/ocdsb-c...,
